I give thanks to the almighty living god for giving me the strength and grace to carry out the
activities I could throughout my internship.

I would also like to give thanks to the dear of this faculty Pr. CHOUKEM SIMEON PIERRE for
bringing up such an amazing and interesting field of study for our enlightening helping us to discover
areas we have never been.

I would also give thanks to the health personnel at the health center for heart welcoming and
the knowledy they transmitted to us

Lastly to my family members for the financial anel spiritual support I was given throughout my
internship

INTRODUCTION
Community heath according to the world health organization (who) to the health status of the
community. To the problems affecting their health and to the totally health care ponded for the
community.
The purpose of community health is to identify, investigate and present community health problems,
assure that the community has access to competent personal health care services, more so it helps in
educating and empowering individuals to adopt more health behaviors.
We the level 4 students were called on to carry out a community health pronce in the health didn’t
of Penka-Michelle where l was posted in the health area of Balessing where carried out a four weeks’
internship that started from the 4th of September to 28th of September 2023 where l carried out a health
study on back pain which will be presented in the following pages.
Develop health promotion activities in the health area: IEC (Information, Education and
communication).
Actively participate in managing the activities of the health area.
Elaborate a diagnosis in the community health.
Carry out an operational research on the community health problem identified in the site of training.

I. INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES

1. GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The practical training course in common it health of 4 weeks’ duration aims at familiarizing the
th
4 year medical student with community approach of health system. The student will execute the
minimum package of activities (MPA) to acquire skills and attitude permitting himlher to execute the
reorientation of primary health’s care in his/her future functions

2. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
We are to:
 Carry out all curative activities of an integrate health center while identifying at the same time
public health aspects.
 Carry out is collaboration with the head of health center all the activities of prevent, medicine,
routine vaccination, antenatal care hygiene and sanitation.
 Develop health promotion activities in the health area: IEC (Information, Education and
Communication).
 Actively participate in managing the activities of the health area
 Elaborate a diagnosis in the community health.
 Carry out an operational research on the community health problem identified in the site of
training.
3. Objectives of the health center
 Participate in delivering women
 Participate in prenatal consultations
 Do patient history taking
 Presenting patients
 Participate during rounds
 Participate during operations at the theatre and cleaning of the theatre
 Participate in administering patient’s treatments.

II. CONTEXT

1. PRESENTATION OF THE HEALTH SITE

The medical center of Balessing is situated in the west region on the principal axis of dschang-
Bafoussam precisely in the heart of Carrefour Balessing. At 21km from Dschang, at 35km from the
regional hospital of Bafoussam and 3km from the district hospital of Penka-Michel. It is situated in the:

 North by Bagang village.
 South-west by Bansoua village
 South-east by Bamedjou village
 West by river Tchoucleun

2. HISTORY

Balessing medical center was initially created as a dispensary in 1944. It was years went by the
dispensary became an integrated health center in 1996. Having at h’s head a state qualified nurse who
directed the center from 1996 to 2008. The IHC got the name medical center after a visit from his
excellency Mr. KAMENI Bernard a state qualified nurse took charge from 2008 to 2009. The medical
center has its first medical doctor Dr MBOUCHE who after 4 months was admitted on internship. And a
second medical doctor Dr KISSA affected who was also admitted after 4 months on internship. The third
doctor Dr TSAGUE was affected and worked from 2009 to 2013 and was replaced by Dr KAMGANG
HERVE in 2013 who was later on replaced by Dr EYONE affected in 2021 and replaced by Dr TEMGOUA
SERGE in 2023 who is still their till now.

3. Structure and organization of the health center

3.1. Structure

 The CMA is made up of 3 building the first building is made up of

 The general supervisor’s office
 A big room for hospitalization for women
 A big room hospitalization for men
 Adjacent to this building just at 4m from the gate is a very small reception building

1. JUSTIFICATION REASONS FOR CHOOSING MY THEME
The fact that we notice many women of old age came to the hospital present in with symptoms
of back pain such as decrease capacity to work without support same sleep on bad while sitting just
because of the pain and some were not even able to change position on the bed because of their pain.
This pushed me to do a study on back patient to know the risque factors, clinical aspects and
therapeutique measures taken by the individuals suffering from it.
