 01 About PPF

PPF stands for Poor Patients’ Fund. It is a non-

profit organization working in Manipal
Teaching Hospital for more than two decades.
It has been consistently providing financial
support to needy patients from poor economic
backgrounds who have been admitted to Manipal Teaching Hospital. PPF
accumulates its fund from students, faculties, non-teaching staff, different
fundraising programs, sponsorships and advertisements.

02 Program Introduction

• The Quiz Odyssey is a proposed nationwide quiz contest on

Microbiology & Antimicrobials, to be played among MBBS, BDS,
Nursing, B. Pharmacy, BSc. Microbiology and BMLT undergraduates
and interns.
• The program will be organized by PPF Manipal in collaboration with
NHC-MCOMS, Rotaract Manipal & NMSS Manipal.
• The Quiz Odyssey will encompass the medical microbiology, focusing
on infectious diseases and their management using Antimicrobials.
Additionally, it will include the issue of Antimicrobial Resistance as one
of the topics.
• Participating Teams will compete with one another in different rounds;
each round filtering the teams and one team winning the title of The Quiz
Odyssey: Nationwide Quiz on Microbiology & Antimicrobials Season 1.
• A short introduction of each round of Quiz Contest is mentioned below:

❑ Round 1: The Screening Round:

• Each participating team will be given one set of MCQs.
• Top 24 teams will proceed further to the next round.
❑ Round 2: The Pool Round:
• Top 24 teams from the screening round will be divided into
4 pools, each pool with 6 teams.
• Teams standing first and second from each pool will
proceed further to the next round.

❑ Wild Card Entry:

• All the participant teams who didn't make it to round 3 (including those
who didn't clear Round 1) will be eligible for the wild card entry.
• They will be provided with a set of MCQs to be solved and the top 2
highest-scoring teams will directly enter Round 3.

❑ Round 3: The Duel Round:

• A total of 10 teams— 8 from the pool round and 2 wild card entries, will
be divided into 5 pairs, who will compete in a one-on-one duel within the
pair.
• The one with the highest score in each pair will proceed to the Final
Round.

❑ Round 4: The Final Round:

• The 5 winning teams from the duel round will compete in the final
round.
• The champions, first runners-up & second runners-up will be decided
solely based on the result of the final round.

03 Date and Venue

• Date: Asar 8, 2081 (June 22, 2024), Saturday

• Venue: Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara
 04 Awards and Certificates

• Champions: Rs 25000 + Trophy, Medals & Certificates

• First runners-up: Rs 15000 + Medals & Certificates
• Second runners-up: Rs 10000 + Medals & Certificates
All other participants will be receiving a participation certificate.

05 Provisions
• Lunch will be provided on the day of the programme.
• Any materials required for the quiz will be provided in the venue.

06 Code of Conduct

• All participants are required to present their respective college ID

cards.
• Any electronic gadgets are prohibited in the venue.
• Any form of abuse or violence will not be tolerated.
• Organizers’decision shall be the final decision.
• Violation of the above points will result in irrevocable
disqualification of the team.
 07 Registration and Deadline

• Registration Fee:
✓ Rs. 2000/- per team (outside MCOMS)
✓ Rs.1500 per team (within MCOMS)
• Deadline: Till May 30, 2023
