Proposal for a documentary short film

Portfolio Production – Term 1

As part of our documentary assignment in term one, our group is investigating

how the introduction of the Thames Clippers has effected the the habits of
private sailors and boaters on the river.
The aim here is to juxtapose the infrastructural use of the clippers for
commuters and tourist with the problems they cause to the people of the
yacht club. Problems specificly arrised from the heavy wash produced by
the clippers.

The overall idea is to show how local indivuduals are eventually gonna have to
make way for the cities development.

Approach:

- We have gained access to the Yacht Club to film footage on location.

- Ian Palmer, the rear commodore will give the crew an interview.
- Additional footage is to be filmed at the Greenwich peer, showing
commuters and tourist using the boats
- A lot of footage filmed by individuals from the club showing the impact
of the wash is at our disposal.
- A narration is supposed to give the piece an overall context and is meant
to implicate an arch.

Research:

- The crew has collected newspaper articles on the clippers and their
embedding with TFL
- Ian Palmer our interview partner has written an article himself about the
wash, and the shipping lanes used on the river which is at our disposal.

Format:

- Running time: 3 mins.

- 16/9 aspect ratio, filmed on a canon DSLR
- Output: H624, 25 fps, 1920 x 1080

This programme is aimed to be able to pass broadcast standards for TV
