UNITAR FEE POLICY

• This Policy applies to all students who have successfully enrolled in UNITAR and completed the
registration.
• It is the responsibility of the student to ensure timely payment of fees and other related charges
associated with the respective programme of study. Details of fees are set out in the Fee Schedule.
• Students are advised to review this Policy in detail and to take note of the consequences highlighted.
For queries or clarification on the Policy, students are to contact Bursary Office.

1. Fees
1.1. Registration Fee and Administration Fee: A non-refundable and non-transferable fees as determined
by UNITAR from time to time must accompany an application for admission into each programme or
intake of study at UNITAR.

1.2. Tuition Fees: The fees consist of academic fee and semester fee, determined by UNITAR from time to
time shall be payable before commencement of a semester. A grace period of 5 working days from the
date of commencement of a semester is given for the payment of tuition fees.

1.2.1.If the student fails to pay his/her tuition fees by the 6th working day following the commencement
of the semester, the Management reserves the right to exclude him/her from attending classes,
until the fees due are paid.

1.2.2.The Management also reserves the right not to register the student with the external
examination body/authority, until such fees due are settled. Tuition fees are not refundable,
except as provided in Rule 6. Tuition fees are also not transferable, except as provided in Rule 7.

1.3. Graduation Fee: The fee as determined by UNITAR from time to time is payable before the convocation
ceremony.

1.4. Other Fees : A student may required to pay additional fees as determined by UNITAR. Details of other
fees are set out in the charges for other fees.

1.5. Financial Aid : A student who has applied for a study loan from bank or government (PTPTN), EPF
withdrawal or any other financial aid must pay all remaining outstanding fees before commencement
of the next semester. UNITAR can only assist in the application for such financial aid and is not
responsible for securing the loans/funds.

1.6. Add and/or Drop of Subject(s) :


1.6.1.The timeline to add and/or drop subject(s) is 2 weeks from the commencement of the semester.
1.6.2.Request for refunds/transfer of dropped subject fees after this period will not be allowed.

1.7. Excess Payment : Payments received in excess of any outstanding payable amount as determined by
UNITAR.
2. Deposits and Refund
2.1. A refundable deposit as determined by UNITAR from time to time shall be paid upon enrolment.

2.2. Refund: Deposits and excess payment (if any) are only refundable upon submission of the
Completion/Withdrawal Form (Programme) as the formal application for refund. Deposits are
refunded less any deduction for loss of/damage to UNITAR property.

2.3. Forfeiture: An application for refund must be submitted within 12 months of the completion of or
withdrawal from the programme. Failure to submit such an application, within the stipulated period
will result in the deposit and excess payment (if any) being forfeited.

3. Student Status and Payment of Fees


3.1. Student Status
The deregistration process will be activated if relevant fees for the semester are not paid and/or
student does not report for classes by the second week of the semester. Deregistration process will
also be activated if the student absents himself/herself without prior permission for a period of 2
consecutive weeks.

3.2. Payment of Second or Subsequent Semester Fees


Tuition fees and other applicable fees due for the second or subsequent semesters must be paid
before the commencement of each semester.

3.3. Outstanding Fees


In the event a student has incurred fees which are outstanding, UNITAR reserves the right to withhold
the student’s examination results (including completion certificate and academic transcripts) or defer
the release of such where applicable, until such time when all arrears are fully settled.

4. Tuition Fees Instalment Payment Plan


4.1. This instalment plan is only applicable to tuition fees (academic fees and semester fees) only.

4.2. General fees such as application fee, registration fee and others do not form part of the instalment
plan and must be paid in the first instalment.

4.3. Fee payments are divided into 3 instalments:


Semester Deadline
1st instalment Before commencement of the semester
2nd instalment Before 10th of the following month
3rd instalment Before 10th of the next following month

4.4. Any delay on any of the above instalment fee payment, student will not be able to access to your exam
results and proceed to the next semester.
5. Withdrawal from Programme
5.1. Any withdrawal by a student from a programme of study must be notified officially to UNITAR using
the prescribed form.

5.2. The student must surrender his/her student card, any library book or car entry pass and any property
belonging to UNITAR. The student is responsible for the replacement cost of any UNITAR’s property
lost or damaged by him/her.

5.3. A penalty charge as determined by UNITAR will be imposed if the student card is not returned for
cancellation.

5.4. All outstanding fees or official charges must be settled in full before the application for withdrawal can
be approved.

6. Refund of Tuition Fees


6.1. A student who withdraws from a programme of study within 2 weeks from commencement of the
semester shall be eligible for 100% refund.

6.2. A student who withdraws from a programme of study after 2 weeks from commencement of the
semester shall not be eligible for any refund.

6.3. International student who withdraws before completion of his/her programme, the unutilized balance
from the initial advance payment of RM16,000 from conventional international student or RM10,000
from online international student will not be refunded (except deposits).

7. Transfer and Deferment


7.1. Notwithstanding Rule 5, a student who withdraws from a programme of study and subsequently
enrolls into another programme in UNITAR is subject to approval. Such students may be required to
pay the registration fee for the new programme of study.

7.2. Tuition fees transferred from one programme or intake to another is not refundable and may be
transferred only once. Tuition fees paid is not transferable after the 2nd week of the semester.

7.3. Deferment: If an application for deferment is received and approved before the 2nd week of semester
commences, the student will not be required to pay any fees for the semester. However, the student
still required to pay the registration fee and application fee.

If a student applies for deferment after the 2nd week of the semester commences, tuition fees paid is
not refundable. However, student is required to settle tuition fees and other applicable fees due.

8. Additional Notes
8.1. Students failure to settle amount outstanding from UNITAR accommodation rental or fines will subject
to withholding of all examination results, transcripts, certificates, letter of completion and barring
from convocation. UNITAR reserves the right to take necessary action as it deems fit including but not
limited to utilizing accommodation deposit, accommodation overpayment, tuition deposit and tuition
overpayment to offset the outstanding owed.

8.2. All fees are subject to annual revision.

8.3. UNITAR reserves the right not to open a class.

8.4. This Policy is effective as on date and constitutes the general terms which are applicable to UNITAR
students regardless of the programme of study.

8.5. Special conditions may be attached/offered to individual programmes. Students are advised to consult
the relevant Faculty/School for clarification/updates in procedures before proceeding on the intended
course of action.

8.6. Whilst UNITAR will endeavour to notify students of any change in this Policy by e-mail broadcasts and
announcements on the notice board, it remains the responsibility of the students to read such
notifications.

8.7. If there is any inconsistency between the terms of this Policy and the application form or any other
document issued by UNITAR to you, the terms of this Policy shall always prevail.
