I. OBJECTIVE: At the end of 60-minute discussion, the students will be able to:
A. explain the basic factors of speech delivery,
B. share with the class the importance of oral language appropriateness in speech
delivery, and
C. apply the basic factor of speech delivery through oral deliver.
II. SUBJECT MATTER

1. Activity
“You puzzled me up!”
The class will be divided into 8 groups. The teacher will give the students 14
pieces of puzzle. The puzzle contains the factors of speech delivery. The
group will read the word aloud as an indication that they finished to solve the
puzzle. The first group who will finish first will get 10 points.

2. Analysis
a. In our activity what strategy you use to solve the puzzle?
b. Based on our activity, what do you think is our topic for today?

3. Abstraction
The teacher will introduce the basic factors of speech delivery.
(Platform Behavior, Posture, Loudness, Clarity, Pronunciation, Grammar,
Oral language appropriateness.)

Platform Behavior. It is everything that the speaker does and does not do on
the stage that must have proper motivation. There should be reason for every
movement. Avoid mannerisms.

Posture. It refers to the way a speaker stands. Balance the weight of body on
both feet.

Loudness. Speak loud enough to be heard. Pay attention to the people at the
last row and ensure that they can hear the speech.

Clarity. Speak clearly. Speech must be delivered relatively slower than in an


ordinary conversation.

Pronunciation. Use correct pronunciation. When in doubt about the


pronunciation of a word, consult a modern dictionary.

Grammar. Use correct grammar. Expose oneself to language through practice.

Oral language appropriateness: One of the first concepts a speaker needs to


think about when looking at language use is APPROPRIATENESS.

Guidelines for oral language appropriateness:


 Follow the formality of the situation.
 Never use profanity or abusive language
 Never use improper, biased, discrimination or offensive language
in writing or verbally.
 Do not use slang.
 Be mindful of using jargon or technical talk
 Be as polite as you can without sounding fake
 Improve your skills by learning
Ask a student share with the class the importance of oral language
appropriateness in speech delivery.

five students to share the most unforgettable event in their lives in front of the
class.
