WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIA
L MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: CFM DOES NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF ADHESIVE TAPE. HOWEVER, IF A P
IECE OF ADHESIVE TAPE IS USED TO COLLECT THE PARTICLES, MAKE SURE
THE ADHESIVE IS NOT TOO STRONG. IF THE ADHESIVE ON THE TAPE IS TO
O STRONG, THE PARTICLES MAY BE DAMAGED WHEN THEY ARE REMOVED A
ND/OR IT WILL AFFECT THE LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF THE MATERIAL.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ANOTHER MAGNET TO REMOVE PARTICLES FROM THE DETECTO
R MAGNETS. THIS CAN DECREASE THE MAGNETIC PERFORMANCE OF THE EM
CD.
A. Inspection of the EMCD
Ref. Fig. Position of the Electrical Master Magnetic Chip Detector for Particles
Ref. Fig. Debris Presence on the Electrical Master Chip Detector for Particles (Normal Conta
mination)
Ref. Fig. Debris Presence on the Electrical Master Chip Detector for Particles (Abnormal Cont
amination)
NOTE: If the EMCD is removed for inspection only, it is not necessary to disconnect the le
ad connector.
(1) Remove the EMCD as follows:
(b) At the same time, push and turn the EMCD plug one quarter of a turn countercl
ockwise.
(a) Carefully remove the particles with a clean cloth (lintless, cotton, process clean
ing absorbent wiper such as cheese cloth or gauze) from the magnets and keep
them on a thin sheet of paper.
(b) Remove the oil from doubtful material with stoddard solvent (Material Ref. CP2
011).
(4) Do analysis of the particles Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-005.
(5) Clean the magnets.
(a) Clean the magnets using a clean cloth, lintless, process cleaning absorbent wip
er (cheese cloth, gauze) with stoddard solvent (Material Ref. CP2011) or aceto
ne (Material Ref. CP1039) or ardrox 552 (Material Ref. CP2559) or turco ind 79
