Approval Date : 13/09/2021 & 08/11/2021

The annual module monitoring process should be initiated and coordinated by the Module Leader/Lecturer at
the end of the academic year typically in February for modules offered by the school during the semester. The
report is to be filled by the Module Leader after consultation and discussion with all Module-teaching staff.

An original copy of the completed and signed report shall be kept in the respective module file and another
scanned copy shall be submitted to the Programme Director for the conduct of annual programme monitoring.
For Research Methodology modules, a copy is also to be submitted to the Head, Centre for Higher Degree
by Research.

For a module with micro-credential (MC) originated from the module, the distribution of overall results of the
MC and learner’s feedback may be reviewed together with the module. The relevant information of the MC
may be reviewed in the other sections.

Please highlight the actions taken in the current year and/or the actions to be taken in the subsequent year
to improve the student performance and learning experience. Improvement actions are compulsory for
a) module with a high failure rate, above 20% of Grade D+ and below (for all programmes) and
b) any MLO attainment (based on CMS report) not meeting the University / School KPI (Note: For Taylor’s’
award bachelor’s degree, foundation, diploma, advanced diploma, ADTP, Master’s by coursework and
mixed-mode programmes except MBBS, Architecture, Interior Architecture and Quantity Surveying.)

For School of Medicine MBBS (a) an annual end-of-block review would be carried out for Phase I and (b)
an annual end-of-posting review would be carried out for Phase II.

Note :
Schools are allowed to refine the template according to their specific needs as long as it does not change
the original information and intention of the form. For example, adding columns for additional information.
Reports should ideally cover between four to six A4 pages.

Please put “Not applicable” for sections that are not relevant to the programme and please do not delete
the sections.

The CQI action below was implemented in the March 2023 semester.
1. To prepare a formula booklet for the CHE61204 Mass Transfer module that can be used during
examination. Students will be provided with the formula booklet during Week 1 so that they could
familiarize themselves with the use of the formula booklet.

6. Learning Experience
6.1. Student Satisfaction
Please comment on the result of
• module evaluation and Teaching Engagement Scale
• students’ feedback
If this module offers MC, the MC’s learners’ feedback is to be reviewed.

TES score (Average Median): 5.0

Further comments: Awesome lecures; Lecturer is clear and thorough with all lecture and tutorial. finishes all
teaching material on time with good pacing; Good. explains everything thoroughly.

7. Curriculum
7.1. Module Learning Outcomes (MLOs)
Please give details on how, if at all, these have been achieved. For bachelor’s degree programmes refer to
the MLO Attainment Summary by Module (2 semesters comparison) Report and optionally, Semester MLO
Attainment by Student Report for more detailed analysis. For other programmes, please comment based on
overall results in Section 4 above.
a. Effective August 2021 intake onwards, the 2 MLO Attainment reports are analysed for Master’s by
coursework and mixed-mode programmes.
b. Effective January 2023 intake onwards, the 2 MLO Attainment reports are analysed for foundation,
diploma, advanced diploma and ADTP programmes.
Note: For MPU modules with changes to Module Learning Outcome, please comment on how constructive
alignment with Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities is maintained with these changes.

Below are the MLOs of the CHE61204 module.

MLO1 Apply mass transfer principles to chemical engineering systems experiencing steady-state
diffusive mass transfer.
MLO2 Analyze chemical engineering systems experiencing unsteady-state diffusion and convective
mass transfer.
MLO3 Evaluate various unit operating systems such as adsorption, absorption, crystallization,
filtration and membrane separation using mass transfer principles.
MLO4 Construct practical laboratory experiments to validate the principle for conservation of mass.

The ESAT Report, Examiners Report, and Course Evaluation Survey were used in preparing the CQI Action
Plan. Based on the ESAT report, the attainment of the KPIs is as follows:

LO KPI: “50% of the students must achieve 50% of MLO 1 Yes (100.0%) -
the score for the LO”. MLO 2 Yes (83.3%) -
MLO 3 Yes (72.2%) -
MLO 4 Yes (100.0%)
Did 50% of the students achieve all LOs? Yes (67.0%) -

MLO1 and MLO4 attainment maintained at 100% similar to previous semester. As compared to the previous
semester, the attainment of MLO3 increased to 72.2% while the attainment of MLO2 decreased to 83.3%.

All the lecture notes and tutorial question sheet were uploaded at least a week before the class. Necessary
videos and animations were shown to the students for better understanding of the fundamental concepts and
principles.

17 Chemical Engineering students (Year 2 and Year 3) accompanied by Dr. Chow Yin Hui visited Henkel
(Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. on 10th May 2023. Henkel is the leading solution provider for adhesives, sealants and
functional coatings worldwide. The plant visit aims to impart the students’ knowledge about the manufacturing
processes, safety practices, digitalization and sustainability approach implemented at Henkel (Malaysia) Sdn.
