BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Proper clothing and school uniforms have been a
topic of debate among students, parents, teachers,
and policymakers for many years. The issue of
whether students should wear uniforms in schools
has sparked strong opinions on both sides of the
argument. Proponents argue that uniforms can
enhance safety, reduce bullying, decrease discipline
problems, and promote a sense of unity and pride
among students. On the other hand, opponents
believe that uniforms restrict individuality, are
unnecessary, and may not effectively address
behavioral or academic issues.

Despite the implementation of school uniform policies at Del

Carmen Integrated School, a notable number of students continue to
disregard these guidelines. This non-compliance raises critical
questions about the effectiveness, enforcement, and student
perceptions of the uniform policies. Understanding the underlying
reasons for this behavior is essential to addressing the issue and
ensuring the successful implementation of the policy.

 SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
This study focuses on the impact of school uniform policies on
selected students. My objective is to explore and understand how
effective is school uniform policies through the perspective,
experiences and views of the students. This study limited to the
selected students in Del Carmen Integrated School and aim to get
twenty (20) respondents.

 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The result of this study will beneficial to the following:

Students, to enhance their academic performance , behavior and self-esteem.

Parents, to offer parents a clearer picture of how uniform policies affect their
children’s school experiences including any financial implications.

Teachers, to enhance their ability to manage classrooms, support students and

contribute to a positive and productive school environment.

Future Researchers, the result of the study will be useful reference for the future
researchers who would plan to make the same study related to the use of school
uniform.

Review Related Literature(RRL)

A uniform policy at public schools became a reality as a result of parent initiative. Parents
provided input through attending meetings and a fashion show, serving on the uniform task
force, completing surveys, voting, and revisiting the policy. Parents not only initiated the
development of the policy, but were active participants throughout all stages of
implementation. Students were involved in the planning process as well. Students participated
in the fashion show, worked on the uniform task force, participated in interviews and focus
groups, and constructed and revised the survey. This evaluation uses both qualitative and
quantitative methods of research to provide an accurate assessment of the impact of
uniforms. Outcome data include discipline referrals and number of students achieving honor-
roll status. These sources of information provide a quantifiable overview of changes in
discipline and student achievement. Perceptions regarding uniforms are measured.

Goals
Before implementing a school uniform policy, educators and administrators
must define the objectives they aim to achieve. These goals may include
promoting a sense of belonging, fostering equality among students, reducing
distractions, enhancing school safety, or instilling a sense of discipline and
professionalism.

Stakeholder Involvement

It's essential to involve various stakeholders in the decision-making

process, including school administrators, teachers, parents, and
students themselves. This ensures that the uniform policy reflects
the values and preferences of the entire school community.
