1. What is/are the triggering event/s that act/s as stimulus/stimuli for strategic
change in the given case?

Lee Kun-Hee took over as chairman of Samsung and envisioned making Samsung a
world leader in high-tech industries. When he took his position, it became the
triggering event that pushed and accelerate Samsung’s popularity as it started small
before advancing further to what it is known today, a global tech giant rivalling Apple.
Before it was able to reach that point, another triggering event was the burning of
Samsung products by the chairman himself witnessed by the employees, it was a
showcase of comparing their old system as weak and not worth producing if they
remain that way.

2. Which characterisitc/s of strategic decision is/are described in the case


study?

The characterisitc Directive was displayed as it was Lee Kun-Hee, the top
management, who presented his clear idea and began small in making his vision into
a reality. It went through many trials before coming to fruition and it took more than
just improving Samsung’s existing products to reach that point of success he aimed
for.

3. How will Samsung maintain its successful market position by using one of the
modes in strategic decision-making?

Planning mode is the appropriate mode to proceed with as it proactively searches for
new opportunities and as well as giving solutions to existing problems. By
discovering untapped ideas to give to their existing market can constantly keep them
on top and ahead of their competition.
