Mahindra & Mahindra, based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is an Indian

multinational conglomerate corporation. It operates in more than 100 countries. Aerospace,


agribusiness, aftermarket, automotive, components, construction equipment, defense,
energy, farm equipment, finance and insurance, industrial equipment, information
technology, leisure and hospitality, logistics, real estate, retail, education, and two-wheelers
are all areas where the company has a presence.

History
 Mahindra & Mahindra was incorporated as Muhammad & Mahindra in 1945 by the
brothers J. C. Mahindra and K. C. Mahindra, and Malik Ghulam
Muhammad in Ludhiana, Punjab to trade steel.
 The Mahindra brothers began trading steel with UK suppliers based on their steel
business experience. In 1947, they were awarded a contract to manufacture Willys
Jeeps in India, and they began doing so in 1947. The firm was listed on the Bombay
Stock Exchange in 1956, and it began exporting utility vehicles and spare
components in 1969.
 Anand Mahindra, the new Managing Director, followed up the restructuring with a
new logo in 2000 and the successful debut of the Mahindra Scorpio (a vehicle
created entirely in-house) in 2002. These reforms, along with a revamp of production
and manufacturing procedures, helped the firm become more competitive, and the
Group's reputation and revenues have improved substantially since then. Mahindra
& Mahindra is now one of India's top 20 companies. Mahindra was named among
the top 200 most respectable corporations in the world by Forbes in 2009.
 Mahindra adopted a new corporate brand, Mahindra Rise, in January 2011 to unify
Mahindra's image across sectors and locations.
 In May 2015, Mahindra purchased a 33.33 percent share in Mitsubishi Agricultural
Machinery (MAM), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, in Japan.
 Mahindra bought a 35 percent investment in Sampo Rosenlew, a combine harvester
manufacturer located in Finland, in March 2016, and increased its holding to 49.04
percent in December 2019.
 Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd bought a 75.1 percent stake in Hisarlar Makina Sanayi
ve Ticaret Anonym market (Hisarlar), a farm equipment company, in January 2017,
marking the company's entry into Turkey. In September 2017, Mahindra and
Mahindra Ltd bought another Turkish tractor and foundry company, Erkunt Traktor
Sanayii AS, for Rs 800 crore.
 Mahindra and Dewulf, a Belgian supplier of potato and root crop machinery, inked a
memorandum of understanding (MOU) deal in November 2017.
 Mahindra and Ford formed a joint venture in October 2019 called Ford India, in
which Mahindra & Mahindra owns a controlling 51 percent share.

 The company's joint venture with Renault terminated in April 2020, with Mahindra &
Mahindra purchasing Renault's portion. Renault continues to licence and supply
important components to Mahindra & Mahindra, such as engines and gearboxes.

Operation and products


Under the “Mahindra” brand name, the company produces SUVs, Multi-utility
vehicles, pickups, lightweight commercial vehicles, heavyweight commercial
vehicles, two-wheeled motorcycles, and tractors. Mahindra maintains business
relations with foreign companies like Renault SA, France.
M&M has a global presence and its products are exported to several countries. Its
