A Narrative Report on the Conduct of the 2024 Fire Prevention Month

The Learners belong to the vulnerable sector, that’s why the need to capacitate them is
imperative. It is timely that the month of March is a celebration of fire prevention and
therefore it is crucial to educate learners about prevention and action. Hence, fire-disaster is
a threat to loss of lives and property.
The School DRRM Coordinator conducted a meeting with the school drrm team for the
preparation about the coming fire prevention month activity. The teachers are advised to let
their pupils bring bucket for the bucket-relay activity.

The bucket relay involves a line of people from the water source to the fire, passing buckets
of water to the fire and empty buckets back to the water source to be refilled, saving time
and energy by removing or reducing the amount of running involved and providing a more
constant supply of water to fight the fire. Also, the bucket relay technique can be very useful
in remote or rural areas where fire hydrants or other water sources are scarce. However, it’s
important to note that the effectiveness of this technique can depend on various factors
such as the size and intensity of the fire, the availability of manpower and the adequate
water source.
The Bahay-Kubo that we used was easily declared fired-out, since pupils are eager to throw
water, and we have adequate water source.
