I started my Internship in Southeast Bank Ltd at New Elephant Road on 8 September, 2019.
The office starts at 10 A.M. and ends at 5 P.M. I went to the office at 9.45 A.M. Then my
supervisor Ms. Afrin took me to the manager and operation manager to introduce me as an
Internee. They welcomed me. After that my supervisor also introduced me to other
employees. After that, my supervisor gave me the joining letter. So, for the first few days, I
got to learn about different types of accounts.

Work done:

On the first day, I started working on the General Banking sector at the front desk which is on
the second floor. The front desk is about helping customers to deal with their accounts. There
were senior officer Kamrun Nahar who is also my supervisor for the General Banking (GB)
department I was asked to observe their work and the customers. After that, they gave me some
account opening forms of the customers and asked me to write down the missing information.
All the forms were personal for the savings account. On the following week, I was assigned to
the Customer Service Section under the General Banking (GB) department. This week I had to
observe what was required to open a bank account. I have filled the details of account holders
according to the national IDs of the customer, checked the verification of national IDs or driving
license. Some customer was not filling up the form properly. So I filled it up carefully from their
national IDs. And to know what are the mandatory documents a banks need to open an account.

Learning and achievements:

The week is very special for me because I didn’t have any kind of working experience in
corporate life before. I got to see how corporate people work, how they do assign a task, how
they communicate with the customers. I learned about different kinds of form Personal,
Corporate, Join accounts and Schemes. I also learned that when customer wants to open account
they need to submit their NID photocopy, passport photocopy and passport size pictures and also
have to submit nominee information and pictures. In the form, both account holder and nominees
have to signature. I learned how a small task like filling up a form, or giving seals on a paper or,
helping a customer with a simple query can contribute so much to the end goal of the
organization.

Observations/Reflections:

I observed that environment of a bank is very crowded. It is always filled with the clients.
Some clients came to pay checks or for the requisition. Some clients came for queries
regarding the accounts. The officers are always assisting the clients and helping them with
any issues they come up with.

Notable incidents:

I noticed that the strong bonding and kinship among the employees towards each other. They are
very friendly. Most of the time, they offered me a lunch from them. My supervisor and all other
employees helped me a lot during this week aside from carrying their tasks efficiently and rid of
my boringness.
