 How can I use classroom cash? This is a great addition to use
along with your classroom management system. Here are some
suggestions that worked well in my classroom and for many other
teachers across several grade levels from Pre-K through 5th Grade.

 First, introduce your classroom rules and classroom management

system. Post you class rules as well. Be consistent if you expect your
students to follow rules consistently.
 Use classroom cash to reinforce correct behavior and rule following
by issuing $ small dollars!
 After several weeks of students earning $ and seeing how great it
feels, then begin teaching the consequences of “NOT” following rules,
by issuing “behavior tickets.”
 It is up to you, WHEN you will issue a ticket, however the KEY is to be
consistent.
 I gave my students one verbal warning and I also wrote their name
on the back of a ticket. This was their only warning for the entire
day. It may sound harsh, but this system works quite well for
students who need immediate feedback.
 Combined with CLASS CASH, I had students pay a fine for each ticket. I
gave many opportunities for students to earn cash and the only
way they could lose cash was based on their behavior.

+ 200 – Earn all A’s on Report Card
+100 – Earn all A’s/B’s, or B’s on Report Card
Ways to lose cash: -
(-10/day) - not turning in signed papers
(-20 ) being issued a “ticket” for
breaking a class rule
(-10/day/page) Homework not turned in or
completed on time
