CLIMATE

South Korea has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons.

Winters are usually long, cold, and dry, whereas summers are short, hot, and humid.
Spring and autumn are pleasant but short in duration.

The country generally has sufficient rainfall to sustain its agriculture. Rarely does less
than 75 centimeters of rain fall in any given year; for the most part, rainfall is over 100
centimeters.

THE LAND AND PLANT LIFE

EVERLAND

Everland Resort is a theme park in Yongin, a city in Gyeonggi-do province, South


Korea. Everland is South Korea's largest theme park. With 6.6 million visitors, Everland
ranked thirteenth in the world for amusement park attendance in 2011.
The long, hot, humid summer is favourable for the development of extensive and varied
vegetation.

Some 4,500 plant species are known.

Forests once covered about two-thirds of the total land area, but, because of fuel needs
during the long, cold winter and the country’s high population density, the original forest
has almost disappeared.

HEUNGINJIMUN

Heunginjimun, literally "Gate of Rising Benevolence" or more commonly known as


Dongdaemun, is one of the The Eight Gates of Seoul in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, a
prominent landmark in central Seoul, South Korea.

The Korean people originally may have had links with the people of Central Asia, the
Lake Baikal region of Siberia, Mongolia, and the coastal areas of the Yellow Sea.

The population of South Korea is highly homogeneous; almost the entire population is
ethnically Korean, and there is a small minority of ethnic Chinese permanent residents.

All Koreans speak the Korean language, which is often classified as one of the Altaic
languages, has affinities to Japanese, and contains many Chinese loanwords.

Freedom of religion is constitutionally guaranteed in South Korea, and there is no


national religion.

More than two-fifths of the population professes Christianity, with Protestants


independent Christians, and Roman Catholics the largest groups.

One-sixth of the population is Buddhist.

South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea, and commonly referred to as Korea, is a
country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula.

The capital is Seoul.

Currency is South Korean won

President is Park Geun-Hye.


Official language is Korean.

GYEONGBOKGUNG

Also known as Gyeongbokgung Palace or Gyeongbok Palace was the main royal palace
of the Joseon Dynasty. Built in 1395, it is located in northern Seoul, South Korea.

Food is a major part of Korean life and food presentation is very important.

Korean food is renowned for being spicy, flavoursome and very healthy

Seafood is widely eaten with dried cuttlefish being one of the nation’s most popular
snack foods.

Meat is often grilled on a barbeque and short grain sticky rice is a staple in the Korean
diet.

The national dish of Korea is Kimchi.(spicy pickled cabbage)

One of the most popular dishes also include Yakiniku(grilled meat).

N SEOUL TOWER

The N Seoul Tower, officially the YTN Seoul Tower and commonly known as the
Namsan Tower or Seoul Tower, is a communication and observation tower located on
Namsan Mountain in central Seoul, South Korea. It marks the highest point in Seoul.
