My first day at a new school

By : Mariam Abdulrazzaq

Of course, unforgettable! I will always remember my first day at school. When I woke up,
as an early bird to catch the worm, it was a just a bright and sunny morning. I was
afraid to be going to a new huge school. It felt “going to the middle of nowhere.” I had
heard about a lot of great things about that amazing school. I quickly got ready, had
breakfast and then went off, heading towards school like a bunny.

Approaching the main gigantic gates, I found that the school building was really
enormous, systematic and organized. I didn't know where my classroom was. There
were lots of other students spreading like butterflies in the school compound, on the
shiny stairs and the playground. Suddenly, I glimpsed someone. I said, it looks like a
girl from my old school, Rama. I had never really spoken to her before but I was above
the clouds; happy, excited and overwhelmed to see her. She was my safety kit.

I called her name and she immediately came towards me with a cute smile on hair
face. She seemed happy to see me two. She is two years senior to me. So, we wouldn't
be in the same class. Nevertheless, I was not as nervous about the enrollment in a new
school, after meeting her, anymore. There, we guided each other, finding our classes as
friends and also had the tastiest lunch ever; the friend’s lunch.

The school is my home. “Home sweet home,” I thought. It actually turned out to be as
cool as a comfy chair. My English improved enormously as we chatted and practices a
lot. I also made some new friends. I was really scared about the first day in a new
school but, thankfully, that nightmare just vanished.
