CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION; Background information

The background study for a research

includes a review of the area being
researched, current information
surrounding the issue, previous studies on
the issue, and relevant history on the issue.
Ideally, the study should effectively set
forth the history
and background information on your thesis
problem.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
A problem statement is the description of an
issue currently existing which needs to be
addressed. It provides the context for
the research study and generates the
questions which the research aims to answer.
The statement of the problem is the focal
point of any research.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

 In general, research objectives describe

what we expect to achieve by a project.
Research objectives may be linked with a
hypothesis or used as a statement of
purpose in a study that does not have a
hypothesis
 SMART OBJECTIVES
 Aims are the knowledge and understanding that
you need in order to answer your
research question. Well-designed aims create
clear links between your research project and
the big, important question that motivates
it. Objectives are specific research actions
that you plan to carry out in
your research project.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

 Significance of the study is written as part

of the introduction section of a proposal. It
provides details to the reader on how
thestudy will contribute such as what
the study will contribute and who will
benefit from it. It also includes an
explanation of the work's importance as
well as its potential benefits
SCOPE AND LIMITATION

 Scope refers to how far the research area

has explored and parameters in with the
study will be operating in. The type of
information to be included in the scope of a
research project would include facts and
theories about the subject of the project.
 Limitations are factors that the researcher
encounters that inadvertently narrow
the scope of the study. When researching a
topic, people often encounter
limitations that may affect the results of
the research.
