the USA.
When canned foods’ expiry dates are coming, supermarkets and grocery stores must throw them
away because not many customers would want to buy the canned foods that are about to expire. However,
3
if the foods are cooked a few days before they expire, they are considered safe to eat. Save The Food
Project collects those kinds of canned foods before they are got rid of and makes delicious dishes in their
small restaurants. The customers can pay as much as they can or eat a meal for free. Some of the local
homeless can volunteer to work as waiters and serve other poor customers in return for a meal or some
food to bring home. The project has helped to take care of hundreds of homeless and poor people. More
people have taken part in the project to do the same thing in their hometowns. Almost 10,000 poor people
have been helped every day up to now.
Inspired by Save The Food Project, lots of people in different countries have come up with similar
projects for their local communities. They have been so successful that lots of people strongly believe that
that kind of today’s project is a highly effective solution to fight pollution and homelessness as well as
help the poor for the better future world.
