attending higher education in five multiple countries: the UK, USA, Canada, Japan, and Germany in both 1970 and 2005 years.
Overall, it can be seen that the ratio of women students
in most countries witnessed an increasing tendency except Canada.
Looking at the figures in further detail, it is evident that
the proportion of Canadian women going to study remained unchanged, it was slightly higher at 60%. This figure is similar to the rate of female students going up by nearly half in the UK in 2005. Regarding the USA, the number of women studying, in the beginning, was 40% in 1970, higher than 3 other countries and the figure accounted for around 60% in 2005, which was just under the UK and Canada female.
Turning to the remaining statistics, Japanese female
students was the lowest percentage compared with other countries, from 20% to double at 40% in 1970 and 2005, respectively. By contrast, Germany experienced a slight increase of approximately 50% to reach about 55%.
