Why Taylor’s
Version ?
Taylor signed a 13-year contract with Big Machine Records.
Between 2006 and 2017, she released several songs,
including her six albums: "Taylor Swift", "Fearless", "Speak
Now", "Red", "1989" and "Reputation". When the contract
came to an end, the singer made an offer to buy the
masters of her songs, and thus have full control over her
work. The problem is that Big Machine Records not only
didn't want to sell the rights to Taylor's songs to itself, it
sold them to manager Scooter Braunun. To acquire the
rights to her catalog, Taylor Swift decided to re-record all
her albums and re-release them with the addition of the
title "Taylor's Version" in her name, thus showing that these
new records belong to her.
