During his lifetime, Jose Rizal, the Philippine national hero, was involved in a variety of groups,

the majority of which were dedicated to pushing for reforms and supporting social change in the
Philippines under Spanish colonial control. Rizal's formation of many groups during the Spanish colonial
period displayed his diverse approach to resolving the Philippines' problems, as well as his commitment
to effect positive change through peaceful means. Jose Rizal formed various organizations during the
Spanish colonial period in the Philippines for advocacy reforms, unity and solidarity, intellectual change,
cultural revival and educational and enlightenment.
Some of the distinguished organizations that was formed by Jose Rizal are La Liga Filipina,
Propaganda Movement, Circulo Hispano-Filipino, Masonic Orders and many more. One of the most
significant organization that was formed by Rizal is the La Liga Filipina. Rizal established La Liga
Filipina, or The Philippine League, in Tondo, Manila, on July 3, 1892. It sought to bring together
Filipinos from all backgrounds to peacefully alter the colonial system. But only a few days after
it was founded, Spanish officials seized Rizal and sent him to Dapitan, ending the organization's
brief existence. Among La Liga Filipina's goals were bringing together Filipinos from many
backgrounds and socioeconomic classes to collaborate on shared objectives. Promoting mutual
aid and cooperation in order to advance the welfare and well-being of Filipinos. Promoting the
creation of cooperative businesses and educational programs and assisting industries and
companies run by Filipinos in order to advance their financial independence. Within the
framework of La Liga Filipina, Rizal highlighted the significance of civic duty, moral principles,
and education. He thought that within the framework of Spanish colonialism, Filipinos could
achieve more autonomy and self-governance via education and enlightenment. La Liga Filipina
was one of the first groups of intellectuals in the Philippines to organize and mobilize for social
and political reform during the Spanish colonial era, and even though it only existed for a short
time, it is nevertheless important in Philippine history. Subsequent campaigns for independence
and self-determination in the Philippines were influenced by its ideals and ideas.
Filipinos are still motivated to work toward social justice, unity in the country, and
empowerment by Rizal's legacy. His deeds and words have had a profound effect on Philippine
society and continue to influence the political and cultural climate of the nation.
