Philippine Popular Culture in the
Philippines was created and used by
the spaniards to the native filipinos
or indios plays and literature to get
the heart of the native and win it.

American Period 2

Popular culture arrived in the


Philippines with the advent of American
colonialism, and the liberal policy
toward the printing press increased the
circulation of popular culture forms,
followed by radio, television, and film.

In the Japanese colonial period, Artists
are still allowed to make artworks such
as paintings and songs, but these things
must undergo scrutiny from the
Japanese Government.

first golden age of Philippine cinema
with the resurgence of mostly
Visayan films through Lapu-Lapu

is the period where Women
Empowerment started.

brought to the pop culture.

and asias series began.
