Chibi Body
Sewing tutorial!

Learn
the base

And create your own!

Tutorial: Chibi Body
Hello! In this e-book, you will have everything you need to sew your first
chibi-style stuffed doll - a Japanese term that refers to a type of manga where
the head is much larger in proportion to the body. With it, you will be able to
create any character or your own unique idea!
The pattern is provided to make a chibi doll of about 18 cm. Feel free to
change the dimensions if you prefer!

Dificulty: Easy

The difficulty will depend on your familiarity with sewing, but it is possible to
achieve the result as a beginner. You can sew by hand using a running stitch of
up to 3 mm, or using a straight stitch on a sewing machine.

Materials: Recommended fabric:

Basic sewing tools - scissors, Preferably plush fabric, but

needle, thread in the same color fleece, microfiber, or even felt can
as the fabric, pins. also be used. In addition to other
Polyester fiberfill fuzzy fabrics.
Taylor chalk or erasable fabric
pen
*This is because it is a stuffed toy,
but fabrics used for cloth dolls
such as cotton will also work,
depending on the objective.

Let’s Work!
1. CUTTING
Once you cut out the pattern provided at the end of this book, transfer it
onto the fabric using tailor's chalk or an erasable pen to erase the marks later.
For the parts written "2x," you will copy them twice, with one mirrored or
flipped compared to the other, like this:

Below is the assembly diagram for the head and body, showing all the pieces
you need to cut out:

2. TIME TO BE CREATIVE!

In the head piece, you can already create the face of your character. It can
be embroidered, painted, or done using your preferred technique. You have
two options now:

1. Sewing the hair using the provided pattern and attaching the bangs when
finishing the chibi;
2. Adapting the hair base piece by drawing a bang and sewing it directly, as
shown in the exemple:

If you choose to change it,

remember to disregard the
previous line and cut along the
new design, okay? Continue with
the following steps as usual.
3. STARTINGWITH THE HEAD

Fit the hair base onto the same piece as the face. Sew along the edges
using a straigh stitch, blanket stitch, or satin stitch for a better finish.

Cut off the excess fabric from the face as it is no longer needed. This will
make the sewing process easier in the future.

The ears have 4 cut pieces. Join them in pairs and sew only along the "C"
shaped area.
Turn the sewn ears inside out
(reverse them) and position them
facing inward (towards the
face), at the corner where the
hairline starts, like this.

In the nape piece, there are

two parts that can be sewn
together.

Position this part with the

right side facing the right side of
the face. Sew along the bottom,
also sewing the ears that were in
between.
Join the "V" on the two hair parts together.

Position and sew them, with the rounded part facing towards the center of
the head.

Sew the rounded part, including the "V" that was on the face pattern. Don't
forget to leave an opening to turn everything inside out later!
4. BODY
Let's make the body! In the middle piece that will be the torso, there is an
opening that can now be closed.

Join the two back pieces as shown below.

We can now join the arms, with one small piece and one large one, like this:
Turn the arms inside out when they are ready and attach them to the
torso and back from the inside of the fabric.

Align the legs and sew the rounded part to the arc formed by the torso.
Join the feet to the legs with
the more rounded part facing
inwa

Turn the legs with feet by

joining the side seams. Do this on
both sides.

Now, join the two back pieces

and sew them together. The body
is taking shape!
Close the opening that
remained in the middle between
the legs.

Oh! And don't forget about the

base of the feet!

5. FINISHING

We need to sew the body onto the head.

By folding them in half, it's easy to
determine the center of the doll, ensuring
symmetry. Sew the body opening onto the
circle on the head made for this. Then,
turn everything inside out through the
opening we made.
Stuff your doll with polyester fiberfill and use an invisible stitch to close it.

We're done! If you'd like, you can make clothes and accessories to add to your
project. It probably looks like this now:
