My ideal classroom

It is easier to plan other aspects of your teaching once you have a

clear idea of how physical features of the classroom will be
organized. Where I place things is going to impact what my students
see and what they perceive as important, how my students interact,
whether or how much misbehavior there is, and a host of other
things.
The below great-looking classroom layout. The courtyard and lab
table will allow for each student to have experiences with personal
exploration, the computers will enable them to perform research,
the various tables allow for individual work as well as small and
large group work, and a cozy corner with science books as well as
books to read for fun.
The room's highlights are the garden and courtyard, the lab table,
and the collaborative working environment. This room reflects the
needs of the learners because it will allow me to create
multitudinous learning experiences that meet the needs of all the
students; it allows for hands-on activities, research and exploration,
individual work and group work. All of these tools will provide
meaningful learning experiences that meet the needs of the
curriculum in a fun and exciting manner.
Furniture
Desks/ Seating Arrangement:
U-shaped desks/ seating arrangement
(I chose this arrangement so students can engage more in interactions during class
discussions. It would be more engaging if everyone can see their classmates. I want a
"socratic seminar" feel of class lessons and discussions, and this arrangement can support
that. Students can also work in their desks if they want to accomplish an activity in pairs. )
Reading table
Having a reading table in the classroom can provide space for Guided Reading activities.
Also, students can use this space to work in groups.
Bean bags
These are for individual space if students choose to work on their own.
Teacher's desks
(I placed the teacher's desk at the back, so I can observe better my students without
them knowing that I'm observing how they work. In this way, it might take away the
pressure of having the teacher always evaluating and watching them. It might help them
work smoothly and naturally.)
here will be enough space provided for students to move around.
Stand/ Stacks for homework
On the lower left of the layout, I placed a stand/stack where students can turn-in their
homework as they enter the classroom.

Learning Centers
Different learning centers will consist of different activities.

Read All the Books Wall

I love this classroom wall

that encourages students to
read all the books. Be sure to
add a bookshelf with some
of the class favorites and
another shelf with book
characters!

Steal this idea, from this elementary teacher Mrs. Fairchild to add

a smile to your students’ faces. Create a display of the reasons

you are thankful, grateful and blessed.

Write the names of all of your students and list one thing that you

are thankful about each one.
