2. Crochet hook size 2.5 mm = US B/1 (UK 12 or 13).

3. A needle for sewing the parts of the toy.
4. A long needle for tightening the muzzle (I take a needle that is used for
stitching documents).
5. 12 mm safety eyes.
6. Fiberfill.
7. A ruler or a measuring tape, scissors.
8. 10mm buttons.

If you follow all the instructions precisely and use the recommended tools and
yarn, you’ll get 24-25 cm (~9-10 inches) height toy.

Start working with colour 05 yarn:

Row 23: 66 sc. The second part of the trunk is to be crocheted into the head in this
row. I don`t count the stitches here. Work to that point where you have crocheted
in the first part (the first 7 sc), then work 7 sc with the second part of the trunk. The
important thing is that both parts of the trunk (the upper and the lower part) should
be crocheted in parallel to each other.

You can also sew the trunk to the head (as I have done with the female toy). Sew
it between Rows 21 and 23 of the head. Stuff the trunk with fiberfill just a bit. It
will stuck out after sewing or crocheting. Do not pay any attention to this fact
because we are going to sew it again later.

Then you have to insert the safety eyes between Rows 19 and 20 of the head. I take
the trunk into account (the distance between each eye and the trunk is about 2 sc).

Fold the small and the large pieces together and keep working them both: 36 sc.
Cut the thread, fold the ear into two halves and sew it with a needle making 2-3
stitches through the both sides. Then pull this thread into the center of the ear with
a needle. This way it will be more convenient to sew the ear to the head.

Tail

Cast on 14 chain.
Start from the 2nd stitch from the hook: sl st, 2 sc, 2 hdc, 8 dc. Cut the thread.

H ow to assemble the toy

1. Sew the head to the body. It is important that you sew it evenly, so that the tummy
and the trunk will be in the center. For sewing the head to the body, I use a separate
thread (I hide the ends that are left from making the head and the body inside, we
don`t need them). I insert the needle into the front center of the body and match it
with the front center of the head. I sew them together stitch into stitch (21 stitches).
It is more secure to do this twice.
Important! Stuff the area of the neck tightly in the process of sewing.

2. Tightening of the eyes

The tightening of the eyes is the same for all of my toys. So, if you have my crochet
patterns, make the same actions as it is explained there.
Consists of two stages:
Tighten the eyes down. For tightening the eyes, I take a long needle. Insert the long
thread of the body colour into this needle.
1. Insert the needle into the middle of the neck, draw it out at the center of the outer part
of the first eye;
2. Insert the needle into the center of the inner part of this eye, draw it out at the middle
of the neck where it was inserted at the start;
3. There will be a loop, tighten it;
4. Insert the needle with the same thread into the middle of the neck slightly to the right
(1sc) from the point where it was first inserted. Draw it out at the centre of the outer part
of the second eye;
5. Insert the needle into the center of the inner part of the second eye, draw it out at the
neck again. There will be a loop, tighten it;
6. Pull one end of the thread, then pull the other one. If the eyes are not symmetrical fix
them by hand.

You can leave the tightening at this stage. But I prefer to make the 2 nd stage as well,
I tighten the eyes to the center. Keep working with the same thread:
1. Insert the needle into the middle of the neck, draw it out at the center of the upper
part of the first eye.
2. Insert the needle into the center of the lower part of this eye, draw it out at the
middle of the neck again. There will be a loop, tighten it from the muzzle’s side.
3. Make the same actions with the second eye.
Thus, the eyes are set deep and beautiful cheeks are formed.
Tie the ends of the threads that are left after the tightening of the eyes together, cut
them and hide them into the head.

3. Sew the trunk again. Sew it from the both sides as it is shown on the photo
below.

4. Embroider the whites of the eyes with a white thread.

Embroider the eyelashes and the eyebrows at the level of Row 14 of the head (for
doing it, I divide the black thread into 4 strands and use only one strand).
Embroider the cheeks between Rows 22 and 23 of the head.

5. Sew the ears to the head.

First, fasten them between Rows 19 and 20 of the head. Then sew them by their
front sides near the muzzle (as it is shown on the photo). I don`t sew them on the
back side.

6. Sew the tail between Rows 13 and 14 of the body. When you have made the tail
there have been 2 thread ends left. I use these two ends to sew the tail. First, I sew
it with one end, and then with the other. All the other ends I hide into the body.

Leave this part of the bodysuit for now and start working the neck. Insert the hook
(as it is shown on the picture 20) and start working one side of the cut with hdc.
When you come to the place of the tail hole (4 stitches) make 2 decreases with sc.
Then start working the other side of the cut with hdc. Do not cut the thread, work
36 ch (this will be the first strap). Make the second strap in the same manner (join
the thread to the opposite side of the neck and work 36 sc). Tie the knots at the ends
of the straps.

Now you have to sew the back part of the bodysuit to the front part. First, put on
the bodysuit on the toy and decide at which level it is better to sew the back part so
that it would fit tight. I sew it at the level of Row 19. I also sew it right on the toy
(together with the buttons). You can mark this row with a contrasting thread, then
take the bodysuit off the toy and sew the back part to the front one.

The bow
Consists of 2 parts.

The big part (pink):

Cast on 19 ch. Work back and forth rows starting with the 2nd stitch from the hook:
9 rows with 18 sc. Do not cut the thread, work the whole edge of the piece with sc.

The small part (white)

Cast on 15 ch. Work back and forth rows starting with the 2nd stitch from the hook:
6 rows with 15 sc. Do not cut the thread, work the whole edge of the piece with sc.

Fold both parts (the big and the small ones) together and wrap it with the thread in
the middle. Leave the end for sewing the bow to the headband.

The headband.
Cast on 71 ch (you can have a different number of chain stitches, try the chain on
the toy`s head, it should sit tight around the head). Work 70 sc starting with the 2 nd
stitch from the hook. Tie both ends together, hide one and use the other one to sew
the headband from both sides. Then sew the bow to the headband.
