With an inner liner of PVC (or other inert material) and an outer
layer of FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) new DUALLast®
construction extends service life even under the most severe
operating conditions.
The key is Duall‘s permanent bonding system which forms a lami-
nate that builds on the strength of FRP and the chemical resistance
of PVC. Common causes of material failure such as corrosion,
delamination, wicking, crazing, blistering, temperature extremes,
impact, etc., are all readily controlled. DUALLast® FRP construction
demonstrates Duall‘s capability to engineer new processes and
products to assure more value for your investment.

A DVANTAGES

• PVC corrosion barrier is a minimum 3/16" thick or 187 mils,

which is nearly twice the thickness of the 100 mil resin typically
specified with fiberglass vessels.
• Homogenous inner layer of thermoplastic material is not subject to
costly weeping and crazing failures that can be associated with
FRP construction. A PVC inner liner subjected to a 50% NaOH
solution offers considerably more resistance and service life than
a typical vinyl ester resin can provide.
If a wet scrubber’s chemistry is neglected or not properly main-
tained, sodium hypochlorite solutions can turn acidic forming
extremely corrosive hypochlorous acid. This aggressive acid
quickly attacks most fiberglass resins.
• DUALLast® is approved by the National Sanitation Foundation
for use in food grade and potable water applications such as
degasifiers for water treatment plants. Design engineers prefer this
material, since fiberglass vessels without thermoplastic liners may
leach uncured resins into potable water supply.
• Exceptional quality assurance: With an inner thermoplastic liner,
the vessel can be spark-tested to ensure leak-proof construction
which is not always assured in total FRP fabrications.
• Temperature tolerance: DUALLast® construction provides additional
process temperature service approximately 20% higher than
thermoplastic only construction.
• UV resistance: The exterior FRP shell is formulated to provide
exceptional weatherability while still enabling the user to enjoy the
corrosion resistant benefits of thermoplastics.
• Structural integrity: DUALLast® constructed equipment can be cost
effectively designed to meet the most stringent seismic and wind
load requirements.
