I. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The nature of the wireless channel is variable and changeable especially in an environment
where there are many objects that can reflect the signal; this project seeks to study the nature of
this stochastic environment and its effect on the propagated wave.

II. INTRODUCTION

Mobile Communication is the use of technology that allows us to communicate with others in
different locations without the use of any physical connection (wires or cables). Mobile
communication makes our life easier, and it saves time and effort.
A mobile phone (also called mobile cellular network, cell phone or hand phone) is an example
of mobile communication (wireless communication). It is an electric device used for full duplex
two way radio telecommunication over a cellular network of base stations known as cell site.
Features of Mobile Communication
The following are the features of mobile communication:
o High capacity load balancing: Each wired or wireless infrastructure must incorporate
high capacity load balancing.
High capacity load balancing means, when one access point is overloaded, the system
will actively shift users from one access point to another depending on the capacity which
is available.

o Scalability: The growth in popularity of new wireless devices continuously increasing

III. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Wireless Cellular Systems solves the problem of spectral congestion and increases user capacity.
The features of cellular systems are as follows −
 Offer very high capacity in a limited spectrum.
 Reuse of radio channel in different cells.
 Enable a fixed number of channels to serve an arbitrarily large number of users by
reusing the channel throughout the coverage region.
 Communication is always between mobile and base station (not directly between
mobiles).
 Each cellular base station is allocated a group of radio channels within a small geographic
area called a cell.

V. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research design is the conceptual structure within which research is conducted; it constitutes the
blueprint for the collection, measurement and analysis of data. It is a plan for selecting of type of
information used to answer the research question. It is a framework for specifying the
relationship among the different influencing variables..

a. NATURE OF THE STUDY

Cellular networks are increasingly used for more than voice calls. Improved handsets and the
networks' increased data transfer speeds have resulted in the development of a range of
sophisticated mobile phones or 'smartphones' and handheld PCs, tablets and other mobile
devices.
Cellular network technologies
Technologies connected with cellular phone services include:
 4G - fourth-generation data transmission services deliver high data rates equivalent to fast
broadband networks
 3G - third-generation data transmission services deliver fast data rates equivalent to standard
broadband networks
 global positioning system (GPS) - allows the position of a device to be precisely located
 short messaging service (SMS) - text messaging
 multimedia messaging services (MMS) - allows the sending and receiving of other
communications such as images, audio and video
 global system for mobile communication (GSM)/general packet radio service (GPRS) - data
transmission services carried over cellular networks

b. SCOPE OF THE STUDY

Mobile Networks and Applications' technical scope covers mobility solutions that provide
communication technologies and mobile services, which enables users to access resources and
share information freely, anytime anywhere. The emerging symbiosis of wireless
communication, the ever more powerful mobile devices, with the back-end resources of the
cloud, making the user fully location independent.
The journal addresses the convergence of mobility, computing and information organization,
services and management. In approving Special Issues, the Journal places an equal emphasis on
the various areas of nomadic computing, data management, related software and hardware
technologies, and mobile user services, alongside more `classical' topics in wireless and mobile
networking. The journal documents practical and theoretical results which make a fundamental
contribution.

c. DATA COLLECTION METHODS

The method of sampling used was random sampling. The main aim of the study
was to cover employee’s at all hierarchical levels. Therefore, a sample of
respondents was chosen at each level of hierarchy in all the departments and
services. The sample size was taken as 50. The respondents were from 4 categories
as Scientific Staff, Technical Staff, Administrators, and Supporting Staff.

Sample selection is random from all the 4 categories.
d. TOOLS FOR ANALYSIS

Statistical Tools: There are various statistical tools which are used in analyzing data. The
following tools are used for representing and analyzing data. Data Representation:
Table
Percentage
Diagram
Charts
