Curriculum Vitae

Gopinath T. (Gopinath Thirunavukarasu) was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu,

India. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Automobile Engineering from
University of Madras (Chennai, India); Master of Technology in Quality,
Reliability, and Operations Research from Indian Statistical Institute (Kolkata,
India); and Master of Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering
from Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (WB, India); and
received his PhD for his research on Diffusion Bonding of Dissimilar Materials
from the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering from Indian
Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (WB, India).

Gopinath was the university (University of Madras) topper in the following subjects: Applied
Engineering Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery, Metallurgy and Automotive Materials,
Production Processes and Management, and Operation Research.

Gopi received Post-Doctoral Fellowship (2018–2020) from the Department of Mechanical

Engineering, IIT Bombay. He joined as a Senior Engineer, Quality Department, Accu Forge,
Hindustan Motors Limited, Kolkata (WB, India), and resigned as The Head of the Department. He
was also working as a Project Associate in The Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering,
Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (WB, India).

Presently, he is an Assistant Professor (since, 29th June 2021), School of Mechanical Engineering,
Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, Pune (MH, India). Prior to this teaching
assignment, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, MKSSS’s
Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Karve Nagar, Pune (MH, India) and in the
Department of Applied Science and Humanities, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Panihati,
Kolkata (WB, India).

To his credit, Gopinath has published 18 research papers in the field of Welding Metallurgy, Mass
Transport, Solid State Diffusion, Diffusion Kinetics, Advanced Welding Processes, and Corrosion
Science. Gopinath is a reviewer of the following peer-reviewed scientific journals: Corrosion Science
(Elsevier), Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance (Springer), Materials Letters
(Elsevier), Materials and Design (Elsevier), Metallurgical Research & Technology (Formerly, Revue
de Métallurgie) (EDP Sciences), Welding Journal (American Welding Society), and other leading
prestigious academic journals.

Gopinath received International Travel Grant from Department of Science and Technology,
Government of India, and Innovative Student Projects Award for his research during his Master’s
program from Indian National Academy of Engineering. He also received Silver Medal for his
academic excellence from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur.
