Objective:

Students will be able to use the superlative form correctly by applying the rules for using "the most" and "the least".

Assessment:

Students will participate in a writing activity where they describe and compare characters from a short story using
superlative forms. They must include at least 5 superlative sentences.

Key Points:

Understanding the concept of the superlative form

Proper use of "the most" and "the least" in comparative sentences

Identifying and correcting common errors related to superlatives

Opening:

Engagement: Show students two pictures of animals, one big and one small, and ask them to describe each using
superlatives.

Question: "How can we show that something is the biggest or smallest using words?"

Introduction to New Material:

Explain the definition of superlatives and provide examples.

Discuss the usage of "the most" for adjectives with three or more syllables and "the least" for adjectives with one
syllable.

Common Misconception: Students may mistakenly use "more" instead of "the most" for superlatives.

Guided Practice:

Review examples of superlative sentences and have students practice forming their own sentences using provided
adjectives.

Scaffold questions from basic identification of superlatives to creating complex superlative sentences.

least".

Closing:

Have students share their superlative sentences with the class and discuss any challenges they faced.

Extension Activity:

each other.
