I will now be moving on to the next article which is titled: Data mining for wearable sensors in

health monitoring systems. In this article there were 6 main concepts that I would like to touch
upon. Firstly, data mining is mainly used in health monitoring systems in order to detect
anomalies and to make predictions about the users health. Secondly, the article discusses the
data mining methods used to complete these tasks such as SVM, neural networks, decision
trees, and GMM which is clustering algorithm used for anomaly detection. Furthermore, the
article stresses the importance of the properties of data sets and how short-term data is easy to
acquire and how long term data is more valuable in making sound insights.

Moving on, This article explains how sensor fusion is vital to remote patient monitoring as it is a
necessity to combine and integrate data from multiple sensors in order to have accurate and
trustworthy data. Lastly the article discusses the current challenges in remote patient
monitoring which include the expenses related to data collection and the ongoing need to
better integrate multiple data streams. To fix these challenges for the future, new data mining
technologies and data mining methods are being developed and more long-term data is being
collected.

I will now be moving on to the second article named Remote patient monitoring using artificial
intelligence: Current state, applications, and challenges. This article discusses the technologies
that are used to make remote patient monitoring a thing such as Internet of Things, blockchain,
and fog and edge computing. Using these technologies, once the data has been collected, data
mining and artificial intelligence is used to make use of this data to detect things such as health
deterioration and chronic disease. This article also discusses the importance of explainable AI,
so that health care professionals are able to understand the technology that they work with.

Furthermore, this article goes over the importance of feature engineering in order to select only
relevant data and to block out noise, uncertainty quantification so that health professionals
understand the limitations of data mining and AI and how privacy is preserved using block chain
and other methods.
