Brief Overview
Regional Task Force Asia Solar Energy Forum Jodhpur workshop Sept 13 - 15th, 2011
Partnerships
Rationale:
The rationale behind ICASET is the need for: Technical Expertise of Solar technologies in India Developing a cost effective way to support National Solar Mission (NSM) Reliable operational and performance data for various solar technologies in India Removing uncertainty of solar technology performance among various stakeholders
Objectives:
Complement NSM to achieve the National targets R&D through knowledge sharing and international collaboration
ICASET Strengthen domestic Solar industry and capacity building Promote indigenization to reduce capital costs
ICASET will form global partnerships with academic and R&D institutions, and companies working in the energy sector. Our Indian partners include the IITs, NFTDC, BHEL, and IOCL. Foreign collaborations for R&D have been initiated with CEA and AREVA (France), CSIRO (Australia), University of California, Merced (USA), Universities of Waterloo and Western Ontario (Canada). ICASET can use its unique position to be a knowledge hub for solar energy in South Asia using affiliate hubs and collaborations throughout South Asia Partnerships can aid ICASET in: research and development commercial testing, calibrating and benchmarking services systems engineering, performance and reliability assessment commercial engineering and design
Concept:
ICASET aims to be a world-class knowledge centre for solar energy ICASET will leverage its relationship with IIT, the premier technology institution of India to provide technology innovation in this sector and support the NSM
Functions:
The main functions of ICASET are: Fostering grid connected solar power Testing, benchmarking and calibration of CSP and PV equipment Capacity building Providing knowledge services
