MODERATORS’ SCRIPT

Good morning, the honorable adjudicators, debaters, ladies and gentlemen.


Before we start our debate today, please set your hand phone or any devices that may disturb our
debate today to the silent mode. Especially for audiences, please do not leave or enter the room
during the speech.

This house will come to order; I am pleased to welcome you all to the first round of the grade 11
- Integrity Debating Tournament 2024.
Brandon/Justin: The topic being debated today is “Euthanasia should be legalized in the
Philippines” and whether or not “Death Penalty should be abolished”.
Seated on my Right representing the Government side.
Seated on my Left representing the Opposition side.

On behalf of the House, I extend a special welcome to our judges

The clerk of the House is Arhen Chan and I, Shujean Castillo your moderator.
Each debater will be provided 5 minutes in which to deliver their remarks. The clerk will indicate
how much speaking time is remaining by raising the time cards. Will the clerk please explain the
methods of timing?

After each debater sits down, I will immediately call on the next debater to begin his or her
address
Heckling and Formal Questions will be permitted, though the judges are to penalize any debater
who in tempts another thoughtlessly or excessively or who lowers the level debate. Judges
should not confer with one another until they have scored the debate. Are there any questions
regarding the rules?
I call upon the Prime Minister of the Government side to deliver the motion, Define its terms,
and outline the Proposition’s care.
I thank the Prime Minister for remarks and remind the judges that they should not finalize any
debater’s score until they have heard all the speeches. We shall hear the Leader of the
Opposition’s speech.

That’s the end of our first round of debate today, before we proceed with the round 2 of the
debate tournament, let us have a 2-minute break and we will allow the honorable adjudicators to
