GREETINGS

Commentator: Today, we proclaim in great jubilation the fullness of God’s glory. Let us
give thanks to our loving God for this nuptial thanksgiving celebration. It is a great
sign and expression of the love covenant between God and the human family.
With joy and gratitude in our hearts, let us celebrate the renewal of marriage vows
made by Paulo & Mercedes a year ago, a grace filled sign where the Almighty
Father, through his son Jesus, became the Spirit of Love they share with each other.

Priest: In the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Priest: May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of
God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with
you always.
All: And with your Spirit.
PENITENTIAL RITE
Priest: Now, my brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to
celebrate these sacred mysteries, wherein Rolly & Rose
will renew their vows in the matrimonial bond of love, let
us call to mind our sins and ask God for pardon and peace.
All: Amen
Priest: Love is patient and kind. It is never rude nor selfish. For
the times we were impatient, inconsiderate and self-
centered, Lord, have mercy.
All: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: Love delights in the truth. For the times we were not
true to ourselves and to our calling, Christ, have mercy.
All: Christ, have mercy.
Priest: Love is always ready to forgive, to trust, to hope, and
to endure whatever comes. For the times we gave up on
ourselves and one another, Lord, have mercy.
All: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen.

1
OPENING PRAYER

Priest: Let us pray….

Father, you have made the bond of marriage a holy
mystery,
a symbol of Christ’s love for his church.
Hear the prayers of Rolly & Rose.
With faith in you and in each other,
they once again pledge their love today.
May their lives always bear witness to the reality of that
love.
We ask this our Lord Jesus Christ your son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever.
All: Amen.
Commentator: Please be seated.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

Commentator: Let us all be seated for the liturgy of the word

FIRST READING: Acts 1 Chapter 1-11

1 1-5 Dear Theophilus, in the first volume of this book I wrote on everything that Jesus began
to do and teach until the day he said good-bye to the apostles, the ones he had chosen
through the Holy Spirit, and was taken up to heaven. After his death, he presented himself
alive to them in many different settings over a period of forty days. In face-to-face meetings,
he talked to them about things concerning the kingdom of God. As they met and ate meals
together, he told them that they were on no account to leave Jerusalem but “must wait for
what the Father promised: the promise you heard from me. John baptized in water; you will
be baptized in the Holy Spirit. And soon.”

6
When they were together for the last time they asked, “Master, are you going to restore the
kingdom to Israel now? Is this the time?”

2
He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll
7-8

get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.”

These were his last words. As they watched, he was taken up and disappeared in a cloud.
9-11

They stood there, staring into the empty sky. Suddenly two men appeared—in white robes!
They said, “You Galileans!—why do you just stand here looking up at an empty sky? This very
Jesus who was taken up from among you to heaven will come as certainly—and mysteriously
—as he left.”

GOSPEL
Priest: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.

4
Priest: A Reading from the Holy Gospel According to Mark 16:
15-20

All: Glory to You, O Lord.

Priest: Jesus said to his disciples:

Gospel Mk 16:15-20
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Go into the whole world
and proclaim the gospel to every creature.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;
whoever does not believe will be condemned.
These signs will accompany those who believe:
in my name they will drive out demons,
they will speak new languages.
They will pick up serpents with their hands,
and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.
They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them,
was taken up into heaven
and took his seat at the right hand of God.
But they went forth and preached everywhere,
while the Lord worked with them
and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.

The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Please be seated.

once again recall how you once sealed your love with an
eternal bond before God and the Church. I assure you of
the prayers of our community that God may pour His
abundant blessings on your love and help you to carry

prayers and continue to accept them as a married
couple in our Christian community.

SCRUTINY

Priest: May I ask you Rolly & Rose, to answer truthfully the
following questions: Rose, have you come here of your
own free will to RENEW yourself once more in the love
and service of Rolly, your husband?
ROSE: Yes, Father.

Priest: Rolly, have you come here of your own free will to
RENEW yourself once more in the love and service of
Rose, your wife?

6
ROLLY: Yes, Father.

Priest: Rolly & Rose, are you both decided, as you

promised before in your nuptial celebration, to raise as
good Christians the children whom God will give you?
ROLLY AND ROSE: Yes, Father.

RENEWAL OF VOWS

Priest: Rolly and Rose, in the presence of God and this

Christian community gathered here, I ask you now to
join hands and ONCE AGAIN express freely your
intentions and promises to love each other for life.
ROSE: Rolly , inspired by God’s love for both of us, I now give myself to you ANEW as
your wife in the presence of our children, relatives, grandchildren, and friends. I
renew my promise to you before God that I will be faithful to you and will love you
with all my heart as long as we both live.

ROLLY: Rose, inspired by God’s love for both of us, I now give myself to you ANEW as
your husband in the presence of our children, relatives, grandchildren, and friends. I
renew my promise to you before God that I will be faithful to you and will love you
with all my heart as long as we both live.

Priest: Now, please pray together.

ROLLY AND ROSE: Grant us, O Lord, to continually persevere in
being of one heart and one mind and one soul, from this day
forward, for better or for worse, in good times or in bad, in
poverty and in plenty, in sickness or in health, ‘till death do us
part.
CONFIRMATION OF MARRIAGE

Priest: You have declared the renewal of your consent

before the Church. May the Lord in His goodness,
strengthen you and fill you both with his blessing. And I

7
by the authority of the church, calling on all those
present here as witnesses, bless the bond of marriage
which you have already contracted a year ago. In the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
Commentator: The children and grandchildren may now be seated.

Our help is in the name of the Lord.
All: Who made heaven and earth.

Mercedes, with sufficiency of material blessings which
these arrhae symbolize and grant that they may become
responsible stewards of your goodness and providence.

unconditional love and faithfulness to you all the days of my life. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

GIVING OF ARRHAE
(Paulo then takes the arrhae in his cupped hands and lets them fall into Mercedes’ hands).

Priest: Paulo & Mercedes, recall that you both held the
arrhae in your hands as a sign that your blessings will
no longer be held separately, but together, conjugally.
Once again, you are reminded that the gifts you have in
this life are not truly yours but God’s. As guardians of
God’s many gifts, use them well.
PAULO: Mercedes, I once more give you these arrhae as a symbol of my concern and
dedication for your welfare and that of our [would be] children. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

MERCEDES: Paulo, I once again accept this as a symbol of your generosity, sincerity and
faithfulness. May I continually treasure and use it well in order to build a truly
Christian home. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

your family as the domestic church, be nurtured by the
Word of God. May His Word be your life, following the
Lord’s decrees & His will.

9
We shall now bless the Holy Bible which shall be your
guide and inspiration for the marital bond of love you
have just renewed.
Father, Look kindly upon Your children Rolly and Rose
who renewed today their commitment in love to follow
Your will. May this Bible be blessed. May they
continually listen to Your Word and never cease to put it
into practice. Nourish their lives with Your commands so
that they may distinguish themselves through their
integrity of faith and the observance of the Gospel
precepts. We ask this through Christ out Lord.

rejoice in His gift of married love. May they both be known as
God fearing individuals, and may they be known as parents

faithful in love to her husband, generous and kind. May she
always follow the example of the holy women, whose praises
are sung in the Scriptures.

Gospel so that they may be witnesses of Christ to others.

saints in the kingdom of heaven. We ask this through Christ
