450677739-Renewal-of-Marriage-Vows Mama and Papa May 12
Commentator: Today, we proclaim in great jubilation the fullness of God’s glory. Let us
give thanks to our loving God for this nuptial thanksgiving celebration. It is a great
sign and expression of the love covenant between God and the human family.
With joy and gratitude in our hearts, let us celebrate the renewal of marriage vows
made by Paulo & Mercedes a year ago, a grace filled sign where the Almighty
Father, through his son Jesus, became the Spirit of Love they share with each other.
Priest: In the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Priest: May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of
God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with
you always.
All: And with your Spirit.
PENITENTIAL RITE
Priest: Now, my brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to
celebrate these sacred mysteries, wherein Rolly & Rose
will renew their vows in the matrimonial bond of love, let
us call to mind our sins and ask God for pardon and peace.
All: Amen
Priest: Love is patient and kind. It is never rude nor selfish. For
the times we were impatient, inconsiderate and self-
centered, Lord, have mercy.
All: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: Love delights in the truth. For the times we were not
true to ourselves and to our calling, Christ, have mercy.
All: Christ, have mercy.
Priest: Love is always ready to forgive, to trust, to hope, and
to endure whatever comes. For the times we gave up on
ourselves and one another, Lord, have mercy.
All: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen.

OPENING PRAYER
1 1-5 Dear Theophilus, in the first volume of this book I wrote on everything that Jesus began
to do and teach until the day he said good-bye to the apostles, the ones he had chosen
through the Holy Spirit, and was taken up to heaven. After his death, he presented himself
alive to them in many different settings over a period of forty days. In face-to-face meetings,
he talked to them about things concerning the kingdom of God. As they met and ate meals
together, he told them that they were on no account to leave Jerusalem but “must wait for
what the Father promised: the promise you heard from me. John baptized in water; you will
be baptized in the Holy Spirit. And soon.”
6
When they were together for the last time they asked, “Master, are you going to restore the
kingdom to Israel now? Is this the time?”
2
He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll
7-8
get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.”
These were his last words. As they watched, he was taken up and disappeared in a cloud.
9-11
They stood there, staring into the empty sky. Suddenly two men appeared—in white robes!
They said, “You Galileans!—why do you just stand here looking up at an empty sky? This very
Jesus who was taken up from among you to heaven will come as certainly—and mysteriously
—as he left.”
RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Responsorial Psalm – Psalms 103:1-2, 11-12, 19-20
R. (19a) The Lord has set his throne in heaven.
or:
R. Alleluia.
1

and all my being, bless his holy name.
2
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.
R. The Lord has set his throne in heaven.
or:
R. Alleluia.
11
For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so surpassing is his kindness toward those who fear him.
12
As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he put our transgressions from us.
R. The Lord has set his throne in heaven.
or:
R. Alleluia.
19
The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20
Bless the LORD, all you his angels,
you mighty in strength, who do his bidding.
R. The Lord has set his throne in heaven.
or:
R. Alleluia.
GOSPEL
Priest: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.

Priest: A Reading from the Holy Gospel According to Mark 16:
15-20
Gospel Mk 16:15-20
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Go into the whole world
and proclaim the gospel to every creature.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;
whoever does not believe will be condemned.
These signs will accompany those who believe:
in my name they will drive out demons,
they will speak new languages.
They will pick up serpents with their hands,
and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.
They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them,
was taken up into heaven
and took his seat at the right hand of God.
But they went forth and preached everywhere,
while the Lord worked with them
and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.
HOMILY
5
Commentator: Please remain seated for the marriage renewal rites.
Commentator: May we request Rolly & Rose to please come forward and light the
candles.
Priest: Dearly beloved Rolly & Rose you are here today to
once again recall how you once sealed your love with an
eternal bond before God and the Church. I assure you of
the prayers of our community that God may pour His
abundant blessings on your love and help you to carry
out the duties of the married state. And you, dear
children and grandchildren, relatives and friends of
Rolly & Rose may I ask you to help them with your
prayers and continue to accept them as a married
couple in our Christian community.
SCRUTINY
Priest: May I ask you Rolly & Rose, to answer truthfully the
following questions: Rose, have you come here of your
own free will to RENEW yourself once more in the love
and service of Rolly, your husband?
ROSE: Yes, Father.
Priest: Rolly, have you come here of your own free will to
RENEW yourself once more in the love and service of
Rose, your wife?
6
ROLLY: Yes, Father.
RENEWAL OF VOWS
ROLLY: Rose, inspired by God’s love for both of us, I now give myself to you ANEW as
your husband in the presence of our children, relatives, grandchildren, and friends. I
renew my promise to you before God that I will be faithful to you and will love you
with all my heart as long as we both live.
7
by the authority of the church, calling on all those
present here as witnesses, bless the bond of marriage
which you have already contracted a year ago. In the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
Commentator: The children and grandchildren may now be seated.
Commentator: May we request (_______) to stand on the left side of the priest for the
blessing of the rings, arrhae and Bible.
EXCHANGE OF RINGS
8
Priest: Now, give these rings to each other.
PAULO : Mercedes, I give you this ring anew. Continually wear it as a sign of my
unconditional love and faithfulness to you all the days of my life. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
MERCEDES: Paulo, I give you this ring anew. Continually wear it as a sign of my
unconditional love and faithfulness to you all the days of my life. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
GIVING OF ARRHAE
(Paulo then takes the arrhae in his cupped hands and lets them fall into Mercedes’ hands).
Priest: Paulo & Mercedes, recall that you both held the
arrhae in your hands as a sign that your blessings will
no longer be held separately, but together, conjugally.
Once again, you are reminded that the gifts you have in
this life are not truly yours but God’s. As guardians of
God’s many gifts, use them well.
PAULO: Mercedes, I once more give you these arrhae as a symbol of my concern and
dedication for your welfare and that of our [would be] children. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
MERCEDES: Paulo, I once again accept this as a symbol of your generosity, sincerity and
faithfulness. May I continually treasure and use it well in order to build a truly
Christian home. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
9
We shall now bless the Holy Bible which shall be your
guide and inspiration for the marital bond of love you
have just renewed.
Father, Look kindly upon Your children Rolly and Rose
who renewed today their commitment in love to follow
Your will. May this Bible be blessed. May they
continually listen to Your Word and never cease to put it
into practice. Nourish their lives with Your commands so
that they may distinguish themselves through their
integrity of faith and the observance of the Gospel
precepts. We ask this through Christ out Lord.
All: Amen

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
Priest: Now that we have heard God’s word in the Sacred
Scriptures and experienced the Lord’s presence in this
RENEWED exchange of vows, let us offer our petitions

petition, let our response be:
Father, by the power of Your Spirit, Your Son, Jesus, continues to unite us as one
Church. May our Holy Mother Church, through Your ministers direct our earthly
pilgrimage and lead us all to you. Let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord, keep us in your love.

OFFERTORY
Priest: Blessed are You, Lord God of all creation. Through Your goodness we have this
bread to offer, which earth has given, and human hands have made. It will become
for us the bread of life.
Priest: By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ,
who humbled Himself to share in our humanity. Blessed are You, Lord God of all
creation. Through Your goodness, we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and the
work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.
Priest: Lord God, be pleased with the sacrifice we offer You with humble and contrite hearts.
Pray brothers and sisters that this my sacrifice and yours, may be made
acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

PREFACE
14
Priest:
Father, all powerful and ever living God,
we do well always and everywhere to give You
thanks.
In love you created man and woman to share in
Your divine life.
We see their high destiny in the marital bond of
love
which bears the imprint of Your own divine love.
Love is their origin,
Love is their constant calling
and finally,
Love is their fulfillment in heaven.
The love of man and woman
is made holy in the sacrament of marriage,
and becomes the mirror of Your everlasting love
for the Church.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
NUPTIAL BLESSING
Priest:
My dear friends, let us now turn to the Lord and pray that he
may always give Rolly and Rose the priceless gifts of
peace, unity and love. May the fullest blessings of the Lord
come upon them so they may together CONTINUALLY
rejoice in His gift of married love. May they both be known as
God fearing individuals, and may they be known as parents
filled with virtue.
Lord, look with love upon Rose, Your daughter, who asks
Your blessing. Give her your gift of love and peace. May she
live on as a good wife and mother, caring for the home,
faithful in love to her husband, generous and kind. May she
always follow the example of the holy women, whose praises
are sung in the Scriptures.
Lord, look with love upon Rolly, Your son, who asks your
blessing. May he live on as a good husband and father
providing for his family, patient and persevering in his love
for his wife, with much understanding and prudence. May he
continually trust in his wife, and always honor her as Christ
loves His bride, the Church.
17
Father, keep them always true to Your commandments. Keep
them faithful in marriage and let them be living examples of
Christian life. Give them the strength, which comes from the
Gospel so that they may be witnesses of Christ to others.
Bless them with children and help them to become good
parents. May they live to see their children’s children. And
after their happy old age, grant them fullness of life with your
saints in the kingdom of heaven. We ask this through Christ
our Lord.
All: Amen.
