Introduction
Pepperl+Fuchs zener diode barriers protect electrical signals within a hazardous area and are an
affordable alternative to galvanic isolation. These barriers are available in AC and DC models,
including single-, dual- and three-channel versions. We even have a specialized line of high-
current barriers. P+F zener diode barriers offer the following advantages:

• Eliminate cabinet terminal blocks

• Save space
• Reduce installation cost
• Snap onto DIN rail ground connection

High Density
All P+F zener diode barriers (except high-current models) use the same narrow-profile housing,
just 12.5 mm wide. This increased packing density saves wiring and panel space. Dual-channel
zener diode barriers are available in AC and DC versions while the three-channel model is available
in AC only.

Replaceable Fuses
Our Safe Snap Plus zener diode barriers feature a replaceable fuse that protects the internal
safety fuse from wiring faults and electrical circuit fluctuations. These versatile barriers are available
in single- and dual-channel versions for both AC and DC signals.

High Current
For higher power applications in any class or zone, Pepperl+Fuchs offers a line of low-profile,
high-current zener barriers that supply up to 500 mA. These barriers also snap to a DIN rail for
easy mounting.

Installation
P+F zener diode barriers snap easily to a DIN rail. In addition to securing the barrier, this mechanism
also provides the necessary grounding path for intrinsic safety. Once the DIN rail is provided with
a ground connection, the entire group of attached zener diode barriers is grounded.
