INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND –

TVS Motor Company (commonly known as TVS) is an Indian

manufacturer headquartered in Chennai. It is the third-largest motorcycle company in India by revenue.


The company has annual sales of three million units and an annual production capacity of over four
million vehicles. TVS Motor Company is also the second largest two-wheeler exporter in India with
exports to over 60 countries.

TVS Motor Company is the flagship company of the TVS Group, being the largest company of the group
in terms of valuation and turnover.

Early history

Sundaram Clayton was founded in 1962 in collaboration with Clayton Dewandre Holdings, United
Kingdom. It manufactured brakes, exhausts, compressors and various other automotive parts. The
company set up a plant at Hosur in 1976, to manufacture mopeds as part of their new division. In 1980,
TVS 50, India's first two-seater moped rolled out of the factory at Hosur in Tamil Nadu, India. A
technical collaboration with the Japanese auto giant Suzuki Ltd. resulted in the joint-venture between
Sundaram Clayton Ltd and Suzuki Motor Corporation, in 1987. Commercial production of motorcycles
began in 1989.[6]

Suzuki relationship

TVS and Suzuki shared a one-year-long relationship that was aimed at technology transfer for design and
manufacture of two-wheelers specifically for the Indian market. Re-christened TVS-Suzuki, the company
brought out several models such as the Suzuki Supra, Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Shogun and Suzuki
Shaolin. In 2001, after separating ways with Suzuki, the company was renamed TVS Motor, relinquishing
its rights to use the Suzuki name. There was also a 30-month moratorium period during which Suzuki
promised not to enter the Indian market with competing two-wheelers.

Recent launches include the flagship model TVS Apache RR 310, the TVS Apache RTR 200, TVS Victor
and TVS XL 100. TVS has recently won 4 top awards at J.D. Power Asia Pacific Awards 2016, 3 top
awards at J.D. Power Asia Pacific Awards 2015 and Two-Wheeler Manufacturer of the Year at NDTV
Car & Bike Awards (2014–15).

In early 2015, TVS Racing became the first Indian factory team to take part in the Dakar Rally, the
world's longest and most dangerous rally. TVS Racing partnered with French motorcycle
manufacturer Sherco, and named the team Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team. TVS Racing also won the
Raid de Himalaya and the FOX Hill Super Cross held at Sri Lanka. In three decades of its racing history,
TVS Racing has won over 90% of the races it participates in.

In 2016, TVS started manufacturing the BMW G310R, a model co-developed with BMW Motorrad after
their strategic partnership in April 2013. In December 2018, the Hosur plant where the motorcycle is
manufactured rolled out its 50,000th G310R series unit.[7]

On 6 December 2017, TVS launched their most-awaited motorcycle, the Apache RR 310 in an event at
Chennai. The 310 cc motorcycle with an engine which was co-developed with BMW features the first
ever full fairing on a TVS bike, dual-channel ABS, EFI, KYB suspension kits, etc. It is expected to rival
bikes like KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 250SL, Bajaj Pulsar and Dominar and Honda CBR 250R after
hitting the market. The Apache RR 310 is designed and realised entirely in India.[8]

On 17 April 2020, TVS Motor Company acquired Norton Motorcycle Company in an all cash deal. In the
short term, they continued production of Norton 961 Commando motorcycles at Donington Park using
existing staff.[9] The Donington factory has closed, and production of the uprated 961 is carried out at
Solihull.[10][11]

Characteristics of TVS Motor Company

It was the first Indian company to deploy a catalytic converter in a 100 cc motorcycle and the first to
indigenously produce a four stroke motorcycle. The list of firsts from the firm include:

INTRODUCTION OF COMPANY

HITECH TVS is the biggest TVS vehicle dealer company in North Karnataka that deals with
motorcycles, scooters, and electric vehicles and is based in the city of Belagavi, Karnataka, India. It is one
of the most renowned and largest dealership networks in Karnataka. The company expands its presence in
Belagavi, Athani , Gokak, and other places in Belagavi and North Karnataka districts. The company has
been successful in selling three thousand units annually and aims to reach up to 30 thousand units in the
coming days. Hitech TVS Motor Company is also the largest market in North Karnataka and the second
largest in the state

CURRENT SITUATION OF COMPANY

Sales of the ‘TVS HITECH’ is growing. The sales TVS scooters, and bikes drastically increasing due to
the quality of scooter and bikes of TVS and the technology there are no more waiting for the TVS bikes
and scooters because the TVS is the Indian manufacturing company so the dilvery of TVS bikes and
scooter are in time or the waiting of 1 to 2 days waiting. Sales slide increased to 75% to 80% in May.

In previous month the TVS HITECH as target of 174 and TVS HITECH sold 237 bike and scooters in
which the following bike and scooter Jupitor are 72, Mofeds are 72, Ntorq are 14, Zest are13, Icube are
30, Star Sport are 2, Apachi are 11, Riader are 18, Ronin are 5,

ABOUT THE TOPIC

A marketing strategy refers to a business's overall game plan for searching prospective consumers and
turning them into a customers of their products or services. A marketing strategy contains the company's
value proposition, key brand messaging, data on target customer demographics, and other high level
elements. A thorough marketing strategy covers the 4 P's of marketing such as product, price, place and
promotion.

The ultimate goal of a marketing strategy is to achieve and communicate a sustainable competitive
advantage over rival companies by understanding the needs and wants of its customers. Whether it's a
print ad design, or a social media campaign, a marketing asset can be judged based on how effectively it

communicates a company's core value proposition. Advertising is the action of calling public attention to
an offering through paid announcements by an identified sponsor. So according to Philip Kotler

ISSUSE / PROBLEM OF THE REPORT

During the training period, although the management and plant personnel were very co-operative and
extended their full support, yet there were following limitations associations with my study which I would
like to mention below.

➤ Data totally depends on the respondents view which could be biased.

➤ the opinion initiated from the research study cannot be taken as the opinion of the whole population.

➤ The sample size was limited to 15, hence reliability and validity of data were some extent lacking in
the survey procedure.

➤ The study of the report is on employees' feedback towards Marketing strategy and advertisement. So
these might be changes for ignoring some of the good and reliable employees.

➤ The above issues only relate to TVS HITECH and not to any other Organisation

Type of research: Descriptive research is defined as research method that describes the characteristics of
the population of phenomenon that or being studied. Date gathered by using one or more appropriate
methods such as observation, interviewing, questionnaire

HITECH is authorised sales and service partner of TVS bikes and scooters. They have a
premium TVS showroom on Old P.B Road in Belgaum. They have a team of experienced
individuals extensive training to master the art of customer service. They implement
marketing strategy in the Organisation. Marketing essentially sets the rules and regulations
according to the Organisational principals, vision and mission. This framework has been
set to go through the things that are performed in the Organisation, thereby this policy
manual sets that standard for the Organisation which has arisen the best practice. Through
this report an expect to have good knowledge and understanding on the various aspects of
marketing strategies at TVS HITECH. They recognise that the ongoing development of its
employees and the existence of a skilled, flexible workforce are critical to the company's
success in an increasingly competitive global economy.
