STEPS IN TRANSLATION PROCESS
According to Ronald H. Bathgate (1983) states that there
are seven steps in translation process:

1. Tuning 5. Restructuring
2. Analysis 6. Checking
3. Understanding 7. Discussion
4. Terminology
1 “TURNING” means the translator try to get
the context of the text, the language style
and understand it. It can be done through
reading and digging information in
discussion as much as you can about the
2 Next, “ANALYSIS”. In this step, translators
content and context. analyze the text in the sentence level. It can
be done by breaking the Source Language
text into clauses and phrases and examining
the syntactical relation one another
3 “COMPREHENSION” is the step of 4 “TERMINOLOGY” is an effort to find
translators try to catch the overall equivalent and appropriate terms for
meaning of the text and be equipped the transfer from Source Language to
with his vast knowledge of the text Target Language

5 “RESTRUCTURING” is the step of translators

try to make new structure in TL after the SL text
has been splitted structurally and semantically
into clauses, pharases and words.
6 “CHECKING” means
proofreading. Translators check
the final draft and then consult
it to experts or editor, etc. 7 “DISCUSSION”. In this step, after
having review from experts or editors,
then it goes to the last step. In this
step, the final draft in Target Language
is ready to be published and critisized
by public.
TOOLS IN TRANSLATION
"Tools" or utilities are based on the written material in the source
language which will-be used by the translator to help him/her in the
translation process.

Besides the document or material which is going to be translated,

the other materials consist of dictionary, list of certain words,
grammar book, and cultural description both in the source language
and the target language.
CONCLUSION
Translation techniques are practical matters, as opposed to more or
less normative methods and procedures, which are directly
concerned with practical steps and problem-solving in translation
There are steps that leads us to produce a great translation from SL
to TL. These steps are the process that cognitive because it is
abstract and visible, only the translators themselves know about it.
The translation process is a series of stages that must be passed by
translators to arrive at the final result.
