KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Air Operations Coordination
 Supervise the logistics air operations team oversee the dispatch and
receiving process at AAIA and ensure that the quality and quantity of
product correspond to plans and documentation.
 Lead preparation of air transport arrangements of all associated services
following established guidelines and best practices.
 Prepare dispatch plans, sharing the plan with the concerned units and
individuals on a timely basis.
 Ensure that the Temperature Controlled Units (TCU) used to store
nutritious products and medicines are well functioning and optimally
used and oversee related Temperature Sensitive Storage capacity
whenever required to fulfil transport requirements.
 Oversee ground support operations including the management of
inventory in the airport and required handling and shunting activities for
food and non-food supplies, including health supplies.
 Lead and coordinate the loading of the cargo aircraft with operators and
airport authorities to ensure optimal use of the air assets and
troubleshoot problems both at Mogadishu and receiving airstrips.
 Provide technical guidance to relevant internal and external stakeholders
regarding cargo transport requirements such as dangerous good
regulation and health logistics requirements to ensure a safe and
effective operation.
 Serve as the Logistics Unit liaison focal point with relevant air operations
stakeholders including airport management focal points, ATMIS and
other relevant authorities,
 Secure Airstrip clearance from UNDSS as well as any other relevant
approval before dispatches.
On Demand Services
 Serve as service provision manager and coordinate all external logistics
service provision activities including bilateral service provision (cost
recovery) and Logistics Cluster common services (free-to-use).
 Contribute to planning and monitoring of transport operations and
coordinate with logistics team to ensure the timely and efficient delivery
of supplies.
 Maintain an accurate control of services delivered and constantly
monitor the performance of supply chain operations to ensure that
appropriate internal controls are in place.
 Ensure supply chain operations are compliant with strategies, policies,
procedures and controls, and follow corporate standards, with special
emphasis on quality control, loss prevention, risk mitigation and cost-
effectiveness.
Operation Support
 Support the performance management function and design and
implement performance and risk management projects.
 Oversee logistics support activities ensuring WFP operations receive
timely support including WFP Non-food items (Maintenance,
Replenishment and Operations -MRO resources) and support the
Logistics Unit with appropriate inventory management and forecasting of
these resources.
 Plan, organize and supervise the work of teams involved in the execution
of the functions above.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education: University bachelor's degree in aviation, logistics and Transportaion, operations
management, business administration or any other related field: or equivalent combination of
education and experience.

Languages: Fluency in English is required.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
Work Experience: Minimum one-year postgraduate professional experience in air operations
management, flights tracking systems and warehousing or any other related experience.
KNOWELEDGE AND SKILLS
 Excellent written and verbal communications skills; high attention to detail and
proofreading ability; good research and analytical skills; ability to meet deadlines
and work under pressure as part of a team; good communication and networking
skills; ability to work independently while asking questions and seeking support in a
fast-paced work environment; willingness to work in challenging environments /
field locations.
 Proficient in MS Office package, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability in data acquisition and knowledge of Access or other
database tools is a great advantage.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Contract duration: 1 year, Initial.
