RE: ENFORCEMENT OF STRICT VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURES FORS

GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

1. Several Embassies have noted inconsistencies in visa applications. Specifically,

within the lists submitted for the visa processing of government officials, there
are names of individuals who do not holdgovernment positions.
2. As you no doubt appreciate, this situation poses a significant risk to our
national security and could potentially tarnish our reputation and international
standing.
3. In this regard, with immediate effect, all requests to the Ministry of Foreign
and Diaspora Affairs for facilitation to process visas for government officers
travelling on officialduty shallstrictly adhere to the following:
i) Verification Process:
Internal cross-checking must be conducted to authenticate the identity of the
applicants to ensure that all information provided is accurate and corresponds
to the official records.

iü) Bonafide Government Officials:

Verify that individuals listed for visa applications are bona fide government
officials by cross-referencing their details with your official records to confirm
their employment status.

Include the full name of the government official, official designation/title,
passport number, date of birth and the Personal File Number (PF.No.) and if
there is more than one officer, the information ought to be tabulated in the
following format:

Please ensure strict adherence to these procedures failing which there may
be delays in in visa processing.

never questioned and to prevent any erosion of trust in
