DAHLIA

It was eleven o'clock when the girl Dahlia woke up from bed and

quickly went straight to the bathroom to get dressed for school.

Her school is afternoon shift so she still has time to finish,

but she knows in herself that she is slow every time she get

dressed. It takes almost two and a half hours for her to dress

up. Dahlia is a twenty-year-old girl and is currently in her 3rd

year of college in the Accountancy course. She is a smart,

beautiful, and kind woman, but she has been deprived of enjoyment

in life since her parents separated six years ago, her mother is

the only person she spends time with and monitors their three

siblings. She knows to herself that she doesn't know the word

happiness anymore. She doesn't have many friends at school except

Angelou, her classmate since elementary school. They get along in

everything, they have the same passions that's why they get

along. The state of life is not even the same because Angelou

lives a luxurious life and Dahlia lives simply.

The Day they have been waiting for has arrived, Graduation Day,

the friends are happy, Angelou's parents arrived, while Dahlia

was attended by her Mother, she is happy but she knows in her

heart that something is still missing, her father. Dahlia and her

mother decided to go home, when they were surprised by what they

saw. A dozen people were at their house and many were ready, with

a banner saying "Congratulations Angelou". Her relatives

surprised her, even her mother was surprised, it was her father's
plan. Angelou's emotional feeling disappeared when she saw her

father again, They hugged each other and congratulated their

daughter at the end of it, they shared a drink.

Four years later, life became easy since her family was formed

again. Now Dahlia wants to experience another thing, that appears

to make her feel true LOVE, because Dahlia is NBSB or No

boyfriend since birth. One day, Dahlia was walking while looking

at her cell phone, when she was suddenly bumped by a man. He

immediately apologized to her. But Dahlia was fascinated by the

handsome posture of this man. That's why Dahlia was staring at

him and the man immediately noticed it. He laughed at Dahlia. He

introduced himself to Dahlia and asked what her name was. Later

the two begins to love each other. After a couple of months,

Dahlia introduced her boyfriend to her friend Angelou and Angelou

seems uncomfortable that day, and Dahlia noticed it makes her

think that perhaps her Angelou, her friend was just shocked

because she has now had a boyfriend for the first time.

A few months later, Dahlia and Angelou rarely met, for the reason

that Dahlia spends more her time with her boyfriend. One day,

Dahlia visited her friend because she missed her. They meet again

and are very happy, but Dahlia notices that her friend treats her

sluggishly and coldly. So she asked what the problem was. Angelou

later said that Mark, Dahlia's current boyfriend, was her ex

boyfriend. Dahlia's face shows surprise and disappointment.

Because her boyfriend Mark didn't immediately tell her about his

past, she didn't know how to feel, so she left and went home. She
just cried while lying on the bed, she didn't know what to feel,

Mark kept calling her but she didn't answer. She thinks carefully

about what decision she will make. She also thought it was good

and her friend Angelou tell her the truth, she understood this

even if she didn't say it from the beginning because she probably

didn't want to hurt and be the reason for the breakup of Mark and

Dahlia. That's why Dahlia decided to break up with her boyfriend,

even though she knew she loved her. For her, maybe the past of

his friend and boyfriend is over, but for her the LOVE the she

developed with her friend Angelou is unmatched by anyone, it's

unconditional, she don’t want to waste it. So she decided to

leave Mark. For her sacrifice is even more important, especially

Respect more than anyone else.

LESSON:

Dahlia’s journey reflects the complexities of life, love, and

friendship. Despite the initial joy of her family reuniting,

discovering her boyfriend’s past with her friend Angelou brings

unexpected challenges. In the end, Dahlia prioritizes the

unconditional love and honesty she shares with Angelou, choosing

to break up with Mark. Sacrifice and respect become guiding

principles in her pursuit of genuine happiness. So as a student,

we must learn to be sensitive in everything we do, especially to

other people. Respect can give, when you earned it first.
