SERVOPOWER OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The following pages describe the SERVOPOWER controls.
S36
1) Basic operations : S35

¨ The master switch (S37) is used for switching the

electro-hydraulic circuit on or off.
¨ When the seat is turned towards the front, the loader
can be controlled using the RH control lever (S35). In
this conÞguration the LH control lever (S36) and the
backhoe are switched off.
¨ When the seat is turned towards the rear, the backhoe
H18 S37
can be controlled using the two control levers and the
loader is switched off.
¨ On the LH control lever (S36) is the selector button
(S47) which is used to select the operation of the bac-
khoe or the loader.
With the seat in the front facing position this button ena- S36
bles the backhoe to be operated using both control
levers, as if the seat was turned towards the rear of the
machine.
With the seat in the rear facing position, this button ena-
bles the loader to be operated using the RH control S47
lever (S35) as if the seat was turned towards the front
of the machine, while at the same time permitting ope-
ration of the backhoe using the LH control lever (S36)
(backhoe dipper and swing movements only).
When this button (S47) is pressed, an audible warning
is sounded (H19 located on the LH control console) .

2) Loader controls :
When the loader is operating, the green indicator lamp
S44 S49
(H18) located in the LH seat console lights up. The loader
is controlled using the RH control lever (S35). This control
lever has the following controls :

(S45) :
Press this button and at the same time push the control
S35
lever (S35) forwards to engage the bucket return to dig
and ßoat position (See 3) Loader Operation on the fol-
lowing pages). Pulling the control lever (S35) backwards
will stop loader movement.

In addition, the seat RH console has the following loader con-

trols :
A) Float position indicator lamp (H16) :
This yellow lamp lights up continuously when the arms
are in the ßoat position. It ßashes if the loader is ready to
be placed in ßoating position by pressing the bucket
S50
return to dig button (S45). S37

S39
B) Memorisation button (S50) :
Press this button to record a desired loader position in H16
memory (See 3) Loader Operation on the following
pages).

C) Return to dig control selector (S39) :

This button allows you to choose between 3 modes for the
return to dig control (See 3) Loader Operation on the fol-
lowing pages).

Anti-rollback device :
This device prevents the bucket dumping material on the cab
when the arms are raised. But this device does not function
when the machine is in emergency mode (See 6) Other Con-
trols on page 1.S.7).

Bucket levelling control :

The bucket is kept always "at the same attitude", it was left at
when the arms are raised or lowered.
This is useful in certain applications (pallet forks).

2-speed loader control :
To reduce engine resisting torque during loader work, the
controller sends two ßows to the loader control valve only
S44 S48
when the bucket is above the level of the hood.
This combined ßow is also provided when working with S45
the backhoe

3) Loader operation :
The RH control lever (S35) controls the raising of the
loader arms and the bucket. Push the control lever S35
forwards to lower the loader arms and pull backwards to
raise the arms. Tilt the control lever to the left to close the
bucket and to the right to open it.

Control to return to a position set previously :

This option enables the driver to select a loader position
and to enter that position into the electronic control box .
When this has been done, whenever the return to posi-
tion control button (S44) located on the RH control lever
is pressed, the loader will automatically return to the pre-
selected position.
The loader position can be programmed as follows : S50
S37
1) Position the loader arms and the bucket in the desired
S39
position.
Note : The conrol box will not memorize a position where H16 S38
the bucket edge is below approximately 40 cm
from the groung. If it is tried, the control box will
reset the memory to the default position. This system is controlled by the electronic control
box. It brings the bucket to the horizontal position
2) Press and release the memorisation button (S50)
regardless of the previous position of the bucket or
located on the RH seat console. The loader position is
the loader arms.

the memorised position.
The electronic control box is programmed with a
default position :
Whenever the electronic box or the machine's engine
is switched off, the position programmed by the opera-
tor is cancelled and the default position will be used
when the engine or the electronic control box is star-
ted again.
The default position is the transport position (bucket
closed at half the height of the hood).
The movement can be stopped by moving the RH control
lever in any direction.

Control for the bucket return to dig :

This function is activated by pressing and holding the
bucket return to dig button (S45) located on the RH
control lever and by pushing the RH control lever
forwards.

SERVOPOWER OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Three different modes for return to dig can be selected,
depending on the position of the loader mode selector
(S39) :
S44 S48
Mode 1 : "Ready" for return to dig
S45
Using this selection, the movements of the loader
arms and the bucket are co-ordinated to bring the
arms to a height of approximatly 60 cm, with the buc-
ket in a relatively ßat position.
In this position the yellow ßoat position indicator
lamp (H16) will ßash.
To complete the sequence and start to dig, push the S35
return to level button (S45) again, without moving
the control lever (S35) and the loader will lower to
the lowest level, placing the bucket perfectly ßat on
the ground. The loader arms are now in the ßoat
position and the ßoat position indicator lamp
(H16) will stay lit.
Mode 2 : "Auto" return to dig
As in mode 1, the movements of the loader arms
and the bucket are co-ordinated, but the bucket is
brought ßat on the ground with the loader arms in the
ßoat position. S50
As in the previous mode, the yellow indicator lamp S37
(H16) stays lit.
S39
Mode 3 : Float position
The loader arms take up the ßoat position and the H16 S38
bucket stays in its previous position. Floating can be
cancelled by pulling the control lever (S35) towards
you.
When this mode is selected the ßoat position indi-
cator lamp (H16) ßashes. S47
The bucket does not automatically land ßat in this
mode. S46

4) Backhoe controls :
¨ When the backhoe is operated, the blue indicator
lamp (H17) located on the LH seat console is lit. S36
The backhoe is controlled using both control levers
(S35 and S36).
¨ The LH control lever has a button (S46) for shaking
the bucket. Pressing this button will cause the bucket
to oscillate backwards and forwards. H18
¨ The LH seat console contains the switches for the
LH (S40) and RH (S41) stabilisers. H17
These two-position buttons retract and extend the
stabilisers.
¨ The RH seat console has the mode selector for the
backhoe (S38). This three-position button is used to S41
select from among the three backhoe operating
modes (See 5) Operating the backhoe).

5) Operating the backhoe :
The RH control lever (S35) controls the boom and the
bucket.
Pull the control lever backwards to raise the boom. Push S35
it forward to lower the boom. Tilt the control lever to the
left to close the bucket. Tilt it to the right to open the
bucket.
The LH control lever (S36) controls the dipper and the S38
backhoe swing.
Pull the control lever backwards to move the dipper
towards you. Push the lever forward to move the dipper
away from you. Tilt the control lever to the left to swing
the backhoe to the left. Tilt the control lever to the right
to swing the backhoe to the right.

One of the 3 different operating modes can be

selected by the backhoe selector switch (S38) :
Mode 1 : Fine Mode
S36
This mode provides the maximum amount of control
of the backhoe by changing the ratio between the
movement of the control lever and the movement of
the backhoe.
In this mode, 100% movement of the control lever
corresponds to 40% of the backhoe's maximum
speed.
This mode is recommended for precision work, such
as positioning pipes.

Mode 2 : Smooth Mode

This mode provides the maximum control of the bac-
khoe with the Þrst half of the control lever movement,
while the second half of the control lever movement
controls the backhoe at maximum speed.
In this mode the Þrst half of the control lever move-
ment only moves the backhoe at 25% of its maxi-
mum speed. The second half moves the backhoe at Spool
its maximum speed.
This mode selection is recommended for work requi-
ring a combination of speed and precision. 100%

Mode 3 : Normal Mode

For this mode, the ratio between the movement of
the control lever and the movement of the backhoe smooth
40%
is equal. normal
50% movement of the control lever = 50% of back-
hoe working speed and 90% movement of the con-
trol lever = 100% of backhoe maximum working fine

6) Other controls :

S44 S48
Emergency mode :
If the loader has a defective detector and no longer S45
responds to the controls, this mode enables the
machine to be moved from the work-site to the repair
shop.
This mode is activated in the following manner :
- Turn the master switch (S37) to the OFF (pressed)
position for at least 4 seconds. S35

- Hold down the return to position button (S44) and

the return to dig button (S45) located on the RH
control lever (S35) and move the master switch
(S37) to the ON position (released).
- Release the buttons (S44 and S45) after 5 seconds.
In this mode, there is no co-ordination of movement
between the arms and the bucket. When the arms are
raised or lowered the bucket should not move by itself.
CAUTION : The automatic anti-rollback protection sys-
tem is not operative. Only use this method with an
empty bucket and only as a temporary solution in S37
cases where the loader is no longer operative under
normal operating mode.
To show that this mode is activated, the 3 indicator
lamps (Loader (H18), Backhoe (H17) and Float posi-
tion (H16) ) ßash for 1/2 a second ON, 1/2 a second
off.

Diagnostic :
H18
A self-test device in the electronic control box indicates
that there is a malfunction and where it is located in
the system.
The purpose of this is to help in servicing the electro-
nic system.
H17 H16
The test device checks the condition of all wiring and
detectors which are connected to it, in addition to its
own internal electronic logic.
Diagnostics are coded by ßashing of the loader indi-
cator lamp (H18) and backhoe indicator lamp (H17)
located on the LH console.

7) Seat position detectors : Loader mode
"WORK" mode selector switch 168°
Backhoe mode
When the seat is in the "loader" working position and Inoperative in
nt this area
is turned slightly to the left, the switch (S42) cuts out Fro
the "loader" functions and enables the operator to
use the "backhoe" functions.
This system operates in the opposite manner when
the seat is turned from the "backhoe" position
towards the "loader" position.
S42
Safety switch
When the seat turns more than 27 degrees from the S43
"loader" position, this switch (S43) is released and
cuts out the electrical circuit of the hydraulic controls
(the BLUE indicator lamp goes out).
Once the seat is correctly locked in the "backhoe"
position, the switch (S43) is engaged and the electri-
cal circuit of the hydraulic controls is switched on
again (the BLUE indicator lamp lights up).
NOTE : When selection is manual, the switch (S42)
is inoperative.
The safety switch (S43) cuts out the electrical circuit
both for automatic selection (by the seat) and for
manual (using button (S47)).
S43 S42

8) Electronic control box :

This box (A3) is located under the seat. Its purpose
is as follows :
¨ Supply to the control levers
¨ To transmit automatic signals (anti-rollback, auto-
matic return to dig, transmission cut-out...)
¨ To maintain constant attitude up and down
¨ To interpret the position of the seat
¨ To protect and regulate the system operating vol-
tage.

SPECIAL PROCEDURE FOR ENGINE STALL TESTS

Engine stall tests :
An exception which must be taken into account :
Servopower is Þtted, as standard, a solenoid
valve (Y20) for the loader's two speeds, controlled
by the electronic control box.
To perform engine stall tests the seat must be tur-
ned towards the loader and the loader arms must
be resting on the ground.
Increase the pressure in the hydraulic system by
operating the bucket or the bucket clam against
the closing stops.

SERVOPOWER'S AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS

1) Automatic systems on the loader
:
S44
3 return-to-dig modes
S45
The electronic control box controls the return-to-dig
systems from any position of the bucket and from any
height of the arms.
The automatic movements of the arms and bucket are
made in such a way that the bucket teeth do not touch
the ground during modes 1 and 2.
Selection of modes is done by means of a 3 position
selector (S39). The position of this switch inßuences
the signal the control box sends to the valve control- S39
heads.
Once it is started, any of the modes can be cancelled H16
by moving the RH control lever towards you or away
from you.
1. "Ready" for return-to-dig Mode
This is activated by pressing the return-to-dig but-
ton (S45) while at the same time moving the control
lever forwards.
The control-heads (Y21) and (Y24) are energised
by the electronic box to an extent depending on the
signals sent by the potentiometers.
the bucket turns to the horizontal position and the
arms move to a position where the bucket is about 40
cm above the ground.
Movement then stops and the yellow indicator
lamp (H16) ßashes (See Figure 1).
When the operator presses on the same button
(S45) a second time, the arms lower and only the Figure 1
ßoating position control-head (Y22) is energised.
The yellow indicator lamp stays lit continuously.
2. Automatic return-to-dig Mode
Operation is the same as the previous mode except
that instead of stopping in the "ready" position, the
control-heads (Y21) and (Y24) are energised by the
electronic control box in such a way as to bring the
bucket directly to the ground. (See Figure 2).
As in the preceding mode, the yellow indicator
lamp (H16) is lit continuously, showing that the ßoat
position control-head (Y22) is being energised.
3. Float Mode
When this mode is selected, the yellow indicator
lamp (H16) ßashes, informing the operator that the
mode is selected. Figure 2
It is activated again when the return-to-dig button because only the ßoat position control-head
(S45) is pressed while at the same time moving the (Y22) has been energised.
control lever forwards.
The loader arms move to the ßoat position and the
bucket stays in the same position it was already in,

CASE Training Centre 4.S.5

SERVOPOWER'S AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS

There is no co-ordinated movement in this mode,
so the yellow indicator lamp (H16) stays on conti-
nuously.
Return to position
Programmed by the operator who places the bucket
and arms in the desired position and then presses
the memorisation button (S50).
The default position for this selection is the "transport
position" with the bucket positioned at half the height
of the hood (See Figure 3).
This default position is activated whenever the con-
nection to the electronic control box is interrupted.
The return to position command is made by pressing
the button (S44). It is not necessary to move the Figure 3
control lever. The movement can be stopped by
moving the RH control lever in any direction.
Constant bucket angle when raising or lowering
S44 S48
This keeps the bucket angle the same as the operator
left it the last time he moved it, even if the arms are S45
raised or lowered.
The electronic control box does this by correcting the
feed to the bucket cylinders even if only the arms are
operated.
Anti-rollback
This stops the bucket turning over when the arms are
raised, so that material cannot fall onto the machine S38
from the back of the bucket. The control box corrects
S50
the feed to the bucket cylinders as the arms are
H16
raised, even if the bucket is kept closed.
Please note that this function does not operate when
the machine is in emergency mode.
2 speed control for the arms
To reduce the load on the engine during loader ope-
ration, the control box switches the solenoid (Y20)
ON only when the bucket is raised higher than the
level of the hood. This forces the small ßow to be Y20
added to the high ßow for supplying the loader control
valves.
This solenoid (Y20) is always switched on when the
backhoe is working.

2) Transmission :
Transmission cut-out control
When the button (S48) is pressed, the control box
switches the transmission cut-out relay solenoid
(K5) to earth.

Shaking the bucket
S36
This function shakes the backhoe bucket quickly to
help to loosen the material. The shaking frequency
should be about 2 Hz.
This manoeuvre is activated by the button (S46) and
operates by supplying alternatively the small cham-
ber and the big chamber of the bucket cylinder under
maximum pressure due to the electrical current pas-
sing to the control-head (Y22). H18

Work selection H17

facing the loader, or the loader to be operated when
the seat is facing the backhoe. In addition, in this last
mode the backhoe dipper and swing can be operated
168¡
at the same time as the loader.
This selection is switched on by pressing the button
(S47) located on the LH side of the LH control lever. nt
Fro
Changing the seat position
By means of the two position detectors (S42) and
(S43) located under the seat, the electronic control
box enables the control levers to control either the
loader or the backhoe :

CONTROL SIGNAL FOR "PVG 32" :

"ON / OFF" control-head (on the left) :
No electrical current passes to the control-head of the control valve in question when it is at rest. When a function
is required (for example : raising a stabiliser) the switch (S40) sends a 12V electric current to one of the control-
head terminals (T1 in this case) to move the control valve spool (4d) the full length of its stroke. The second termi-
nal (T2 in this case) receives no current.
Proportional control-head (on the right) :
The electro-hydraulic proportional control module (Y24) pilots the control valve spool in such a manner that the
position of the spool corresponds to the voltage of the electrical signal coming from the control lever.
The potentiometer (S35b) sends an electrical signal (for example : to terminal J), the voltage of which is proportio-
nal to the movement of the potentiometer. The electrical control signal arrives at T2 and is converted into a hydrau-
lic signal which pilots the spool. The second terminal (T1) is constantly fed at 12V.
The position of the control valve spool is in its turn converted into an electrical signal by a position detector (C).
The internal electronics of the control-head continuously compare the instruction value (at T2) with the measured
value (measured by C). If there is a difference between them, it is corrected by a corresponding signal sent to the
electro-control valves.
If the correction has not been performed within 0.5 seconds, the control-head is found to be faulty (the red warning
lamp comes on).

OPERATION OF THE ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC CONTROL-HEADS

Operation :
¨ Switched off :
The solenoid valves (1-2-3-4) do not receive electric current. The spool caps (ZA and ZB) are connected to
the tank.
The spool is in the neutral position and can be operated mechanically.
¨ Switched on :
When switched on (that is, with the engine running and the pump providing ßow), the solenoid valves (2 and
4) receive electric current and close the supply lines (ZA and ZB) in the spool caps. The spool stays in the at
rest position with :
the signal from the control lever (S.M.) = about 6 volts which = the signal produced by the potentiometer (S.P.)

S.M. = U/2 (» 6 Volts) = S.P.

o Indicator lamp (Y21a) is GREEN

¨ The control lever is moved in one direction :
By operating the control lever, the signal (S.M.) changes to a voltage of between 6 and 9 volts. The electric
control-head (Y21) will cut off current to solenoid valve (3 & 4) and pass current to solenoid valves (1 & 2).
The spool moves due to the pilot pressure force at (ZA).
When the signal (S.P.) produced by the potentiometer is equal to the signal (S.M.), current to the solenoid
valve (1) is cut off and current passes to solenoid valve (4). The spool is locked in a position corresponding
to the requested ßow.
¨ The control lever is released (not shown) :
If the control lever is released (S.M. 6 volts), current passes to the solenoid valves (2 & 4) and current is cut
off to (1 & 3).
The spool returns to the neutral position, current passes to the solenoid valves (2 & 4) and current is cut off
to (1 & 3).
S.M. = U/2 (» 6 Volts) = S.P.

¨ Control lever operated in the other direction :

In the opposite pilot direction, if the voltage (S.M.) is between 6 and 3 Volts, current passes to the solenoid
valves (3 & 4) and is cut off to (1 & 2).
When the signal (S.P.) is equal to the signal (S.M.), current is cut off to the solenoid valve (3) and current
passes to (2) which locks the spool in the position corresponding to the requested ßow.

o Under normal operating conditions the indicator lamp (Y21a) should be GREEN
¨ Failures :
If the signal (S.M.) is between 6 and 9 volts and the signal (S.P.) is greater than the signal (S.M.) for more
than 0.5 seconds, this constitutes a "failure" (RED indicator lamp).
example : S.M. = 7 volts ß S.P. = 8 Volts (over 0,5 second) ß FAILURE
If the signal (S.M.) is between 6 and 3 volts and the signal (S.P.) is lower than the signal (S.M.) for more
than 0.5 seconds,
exemple : S.M. = 5 Volts ß S.P. = 4 Volts (over 0,5 second) ß FAILURE
This constitutes a "failure" (RED indicator lamp).
o The indicator lamp (Y21a) changes to RED
o The failure information is maintained
o The "failure" (electrical failure, contamination, short-circuit) must be identiÞed and repaired and the
system "reset" using the electrical circuit master switch (S37).

(When the hydraulics are operative)

(This operation is to be performed only if the electric control-head has been changed
or if the circuit is still under pressure at the neutral point)
1. Connect the "PVG32" to its hydraulic circuit and its electrical circuit.
2. Start up the hydraulic circuit.
3. Apply the supply voltage by switching on the master switch (S37). The end of the mechanical control lever
should not move more than 2 mm from its neutral position (to be measured at the end of the movement lever).
4. If the lever moves excessively, adjust the detector neutral position in the following manner :
¨ Remove the plastic cap (1)
¨ Using a 2.5 mm hexagonal wrench (spanner), turn the adjusting screw (2) to the right or left.
5. Switch the system on again to check and make a Þner adjustment if necessary.

© The steering system consists of a priority ßow divider valve (9) and a ÒLoad SensingÓ (8) type steering control
valve.
© The steering always has priority.
© When the steering wheel is turned, the ßow is divided by the valve (9) which sends the necessary quantity of oil
to the steering control valve.
Excess quantities are available for other hydraulic functions at the outlet (EF).
© Appropriate distribution of the hydraulic oil is regulated by the ÒLSÓ signal coming from the steering control valve
so that the oil ßow, which it receives, is always in relation to the speed that the steering wheel is turned (there-
fore of the dispensing mechanism).

The "open centre" inlet plate is ßanged onto the control valve block which controls the "BACKHOE" functions.
This inlet plate is Þtted with :
¨ Main relief valve (4r)
This valve controls the maximum "backhoe" and "loader" working pressure.
¨ Flow selector (4q)
It regulates the supply ßow corresponding to the demand from the attachments.
¨ The highest of the pressures in the various functions is selected by "shuttle balls" (3l or 4l, See page 8.S.22) in
the sections and transmitted by the "Load Sensing" (LS) channel to the inlet plate. This LS pressure pilots the clo-
sing of the selector (4q) at its spring end.
On the opposite side, by its action on the LH end of the selector (4q), the supply pressure at (P1) causes the
selector to open.
¨ When all the function spools are in the neutral position, the LS pressure is equal to the pressure of the return to
reservoir. All the ßow which arrives at (P1) returns freely to the reservoir, because the selector (4q) can easily be
pushed to the right.
The pressure at (P1) depends on the inlet ßow, and also on the value of the spring and the pressure drop on the
return.
¨ When one or more function spools are actuated, the highest of the LS pressures pilots the selector (4q), on the
spring end. The selector only opens partially to evacuate the unused ßow to the reservoir at (T1).
The intake pressure at (P1) is at a slightly higher pressure than the LS pressure.
¨ The main relief valve (4r) limits the LS pressure and thus the intake pressure at (P1).

This inlet plate (closed centre) is ßanged onto the control valve block which controls the "LOADER" functions.
¨ Main relief valve (3r)
This valve is set to the same pressure as the main valve which is located in the backhoe inlet plate (4a). It there-
fore never functions (See below).
¨ Flow selector (3q)
Because the operation of this valve is subject to that of valve (3r), it also never functions.
¨ In the case of a "closed centre" inlet plate, the spool of the selector (3q) cannot be piloted by the inlet pressure
(P2) because the pressure is the same on both sides of the spool + the value of the spring. It therefore cannot
open.
¨ If all the spools are at neutral, the ßow selector (3q) does not open. The ßow which arrives at (P2) goes to the
"open centre" inlet plate (4a) of the "BACKHOE" control valve block.
¨ If there is a demand from one or more functions, the ßow which arrives at (P2) is directed to the functions via
(U1). The inlet plate (4a) ßow selector (4q) will regulate the supply ßow to correspond with demand.
¨ The pressure will be controlled by the inlet plate (4a) main valve (4r).

ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC CONTROLS

P 1 2
T

ZB

The electronics, detectors and the control mechanisms are incorporated in a single assembly which is directly con-
nected to the proportional control valve body.
The electro-hydraulic control has an integrated detector (C) which translates the position of the control valve spool
into an electric voltage which is used as a control signal.
The purpose of the electronics is to check the position of the proportional control valve spool in relation to the signal
produced by the control lever (S35 or S36). The position of the spool is continuously monitored by an inductive
linear position detector (C). The signal produced by that detector acts as a measurement signal for the closed loop
control.
The position of the spool is monitored by a pilot ßow sent to one or other of the ends of the spool (ZA or ZB), using
4 electrovalves (1,2,3,4) installed in bridge formation.
These valves can open and close up to 40 times a second in certain cases. the relationship between the time of
opening and of closing determines the pilot ßow. The passage diameter of the electrovalves is of 1.7 mm.
In practical terms, an electro-hydraulic valve cannot be repaired. It must be replaced.

Regeneration Check Valve (3y) :

3t When the loader arm or any backhoe section is used, the return ßuid from that section enters ports (RA and RB) then returns
to tank via the regeneration check valve (3y).
The regeneration check valve (3y) is unseated by pump supply pressure (P) via oriÞce (3w). This allows the return ßuid in
ports (RA and RB) to return to tank (T) unrestricted.
If a cylinder piston moves quicker than the pump can supply the chamber (e.g. boom lowering), the pump supply pressure will
T pilot RA RB reduce and the check-valve (3y) will be closed by its spring.

"PVG32" CONTROL VALVE (HYDRAULIC OPERATION)

The supply ßow enters the backhoe inlet plate (4a) via port (P1). The pressure is applied in the manifold (U1).

¨ NO SECTION IS BEING PILOTED :

1) Because the supply manifold (U1) is closed (by the neutral position of the spools), the pressure is applied to
the LH section of the inlet selector spool (4q) via the internal oriÞce.
2) On the manifold (LS) side there is no pressure, so there is no counterpressure on the spring side of the inlet
plate (4q).
3) The inlet selector spool (4q) moves to the right, compressing the spring.
4) The pump ßow returns to the reservoir via the outlet port (T1).

¨ PILOTING THE SECTION (4c) : (See drawing opposite page)

In the section (4c) :
1) The section electro-hydraulic control-head (4c) directs the pilot pressure to (ZB), which causes the control
valve spool to move to the right.
2) The cylinder supply pressure at (B2) is applied in the LS line via the internal passage of the control valve
spool.
3) The LS pressure is applied in the section's chamber (4c) to the spring end of the "balance" spool (4n).
This counterpressure (LS) balances out the opening of the "balance" spool (4n) which on this occasion acts
as a load holding valve.
In the inlet plate (4a) :
4) The LS pressure pilots the selector (4l), moves to the inlet plate (4a) and closes the return to the reservoir
(T1) by pushing the selector (4q) back to the left.
5) The manifold (U1) is open, the ßow from the pump can feed the cylinder via port (B2).
6) The cylinder feed pressure at (B2) is applied to the left side of the inlet selector spool (4q).
7) The (LS) pressure balances out the opening of the inlet selector spool (4q) and provides the required ßow to
the function (4c).
8) When the cylinder comes up against the stop the LS pressure increases up to the pressure setting value of
the main relief valve (4r) which then opens.
The ßuid ßow from the pump arriving at P1 can no longer exit via the control valve and so it pushes back the
inlet selector (4q) and returns to the reservoir via (T1).

P2. Arrival of pressure from
20a 20g pump main body
LDR. Control valve feed
B.H. Return to reservoir

Operation :
This function is supplied from the
P1 pump high ßow (Q1) and from
the return (EF) of the steering
control valve (8, 9).
The ßuid arrives in the electro-
20i 20h valve block (20a) :
B.H. - via the pump port marked
"P2" and leaves freely via the
port marked "LDR".
- via the steering port marked
P2 "P1", and then returns directly
LDR to the reservoir via the port
marked "B.H." when the sole-
noid (Y20) is not energised.

High speed :
If the solenoid (Y20) is energised, the electrovalve closes the return to reservoir (B.H.) so the ßuid then pushes past
the check valve (20b) and joins with the main ßow for the loader high speed function.
The solenoid (Y20) is energised by the electronic control box (A3) when the arms are above the level of the hood or
when the backhoe is being used.
Operating principles :
If the solenoid (Y20) is energised, the pushrod will press on the 2 check valves to close the passage.
If the supply ßow is cut off, the spring (20e) pushes back the piloted check valve (20f). The pressure which was
applied behind the main check valve (20g) rapidly falls via port (20h).
Because the pressure acting on the bottom of check valve (20g) is higher, the check valve lifts and allows all the
ßuid to escape from (P1) to (B.H.). In this manner there is more than one ßow at (LDR) to feed the loader (with the
arms above the level of the hood).
