What comes in your mind when you heard the word


gymnastic?

Sir, it requires balance, strength, flexibility, agility coordination


and endurance.

Today we are discussing the Basic Standing Position


in Gymnastic.

The word gymnastics is from the ancient Greek


“gymnazein” meaning “to exercise naked.”

Many experts think that gymnastics was originated in


ancient Greece about 2500 years ago, it thought that
the purpose for gymnastics training during this time
was to prepare young men for war.

Gymnastics has different positions, we have standing,


arms, kneeling, sitting and lying.

Today we will talk about the basic standing position in


gymnastic.

1. Foot together

The feet are about one inch apart, toes

2. Stride position

The feet are apart about 12 inches wide.

3. Lunge Position

Bend one knee and the other leg is


straight, weight on both feet
and hands on the hips.

4. Half-Knees Bend

Feet together bend these to about


45degree angle, feet flat on the
floor body a wreck and hands
on the hips.

5. Full-Knees Bend

The knees are fully bent, sit on the


heels of the feet and the weight
of the body is on the balls of
the feet.
