Digital Energy Project FPR Start Up
Digital Energy Project FPR Start Up
(Explain why/how does the project belong to the theme." I am filling a an application
form for a project.)
This project makes use of existing informal mini grid that is composed of standalone solar
panels, inverters and electrical connections at the community’s basic school. Additionally, we
are looking to install additional capacity and interconnect existing infrastructure into a
consolidated mini grid. Provision is made for grid tie-in to either generate extra income for
community members or to make it easy to integrate grid connection when it eventually comes.
Using geospatial data, we are analyzing feasibility of other renewable sources like wind energy
for a community mill, we are also examining possible biogas and energy harnessing from
bicycle dynamos.
(Please detail the next major milestones of the project. Details of milestones: until the
beginning of the project, until the deployment of the project, until the end of the project
(if relevant))
The next major milestones of the project can be detailed as follows:
1. Until the Beginning of the Project:
• Conducting a comprehensive assessment of the existing informal mini-grid
infrastructure at the community's basic school.
• Analyzing the energy consumption patterns and requirements of the community
to identify areas for improvement and expansion.
• Evaluating the feasibility of integrating additional capacity and renewable
energy sources into the mini-grid system.
• Developing a detailed project plan outlining the scope, objectives, timeline, and
budget for the project.
2. Until the Deployment of the Project:
• Procuring and installing additional capacity, such as solar panels and inverters,
to enhance the existing mini-grid infrastructure.
• Interconnecting the new infrastructure with the existing system to create a
consolidated mini-grid.
• Implementing provisions for grid tie-in to enable potential income generation
for community members and facilitate future grid connection.
• Analyzing geospatial data to assess the feasibility of integrating wind energy
for a community mill and exploring options for biogas and energy harnessing
from bicycle dynamos.
• Conducting community engagement activities to raise awareness, gather
feedback, and ensure local buy-in for the project.
3. Until the End of the Project:
• Monitoring and evaluating the performance of the upgraded mini-grid system
to assess its impact on energy access, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conducting training sessions for community members on the operation and
maintenance of the new energy infrastructure.
• Implementing income-generating activities linked to the grid tie-in provision to
empower community members economically.
• Continuously optimizing the mini-grid system based on feedback and data
analysis to ensure long-term sustainability and efficiency.
• Documenting and sharing the project outcomes, best practices, and lessons
learned to inform future energy projects in similar contexts.
By achieving these milestones, the project aims to enhance energy access, promote
sustainability, and empower the community through reliable and efficient energy solutions.
Please present the project team (especially the project manager) highlightening how their
expectise and experience are in adequation with what is needed for the project to succeed.
