WORDSHIP
DIRECTIONS
1. Each person should have a battle ship game board. Have the board facing
towards you so that your partner cannot see your board.
2. Choose 5-6 spelling or vocabulary words that you are currently studying.
3. When you choose your 5-6 words, write them down on your board. Be sure
to spread the words out. The words can be written horizontally (left to right)
or vertically (up and down). Words cannot be written diagonally. Do not
tell or show your partner where you have written down your words (keep it a
secret!). Once you have written down all of your words on your board and
the game has already begun you cannot change your words or any letters
on your word ship!
4. Take turns calling out a number. For example, partner A might call out "D3"
and partner B will say either "HIT" to indicate that partner A hit one of their
word ships or "MISS" to indicate that they did not hit their word ship.
5. Every time there is a “HIT”, the other player must tell their partner what
letter they hit (NOT THE WORD, JUST THE LETTER). Partner A will draw a
circle on their battle ship board for box D3 if it is a hit. If it is not a hit, partner
A will draw an X to show that there is no word ship in that area. If partner A
made a hit, they get to immediately have another turn until they do not get
a hit.
6. Once a word ship has been completely hit, the player has to tell their partner
that they sunk one of their ships. For example, if partner B hit every single
box for just one of the word ships, then partner B must tell partner A that
one of their ship has sunk. The player must sink all five ships to win.
