JOB TITLE: Programme Lead

SECTION: Curriculum

RESPONSIBLE TO: Programme Area Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

To lead and oversee the co-ordination of programmes to successful completion. To plan and
deliver learning; assess student work and provide feedback.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are not shown in order of priority of frequency nor is the list
comprehensive, but rather an indication of the type and level of duties expected of this post.

1. To liaise with the course/programme area team and relevant staff to ensure that all the
students are enrolled and follow a designated programme of study. For full-time
courses, this should include additional studies (where appropriate), enrichment,
functional skills and tutorials.

2. To work with the Programme Area Manager to regularly monitor course data and to take
necessary action to ensure that information is correct and up to date including ensuring
that withdrawals, cancellations, transfers etc. are actioned in a timely manner and in
accordance with the college policy.

3. To appraise courses using a range of quality and performance indicators (attendance,


retention, success etc.) and prepare course reviews to inform the area’s self-
assessment report.

4. To develop, plan and implement systems and processes that support the management
of learning including schemes of work, assessment schedules, pre-entry and interview
processes, keep warm arrangements, induction, course handbooks and tutorial
systems.

5. To work with the Programme Area Manager to plan programmes to maximise resources
and funding in line with the awarding organisation and/or study programme guidelines.

6. To ensure examination entries are completed, including special exam allowances with
student services in line with the relevant awarding organisation guidelines.
7. To disseminate updated information and course regulations/specifications providing
advice relating to best practice and ensuring that awarding organisation requirements
are met, e.g. awarding organisation registrations for the main programme, additionality,
and English and maths qualifications.

8. To support the College’s Quality Assurance processes such as the planning, and
coordination of assessment and Internal Verification and other such duties to support
the development of good teaching and learning practice.

9. Where appropriate, to coordinate and ensure the quality of UCAS applications and
references.

10. To work collaboratively with colleagues, managers and external stakeholders to


enhance the existing curriculum and develop new learning programmes focused on
progression to further study and employment.

11. To be responsible for matters of student discipline at Stage 1 within the scope of the
Student Disciplinary Code, including agreeing and monitoring Behavioural Action Plans.

12. To maintain awareness of industry developments and update skills through staff
development etc. and undertake a minimum of 30 hours CPD per annum and any such
training as may be required in recognition of your professional and vocational
development.

13. To ensure all activities undertaken comply with Health and Safety requirements. To be
aware of and act upon Health and Safety issues in accordance with College policies
and procedures.
