Course Objectives: This course gives a comprehensive view of available psychological therapies based on Indian system of medicine.

Pre-requisites: NIL

Course Contents/Syllabus:

Module I Introduction 15%
Definition, concept, types of indigenous therapies

Module II Historical Perspective 20%

Tracing of these 3 different therapies from Veda, Puranas, Religious Scriptures

Module III Indigenous Therapies-I 15%


Diagnosis and assessment in indigenous therapies (Yoga, Ayurveda, etc.)

Module IV Indigenous Therapies-II 20%

Types of Indigenous therapies (Naikan Therapy, Work therapy, Sleep therapy).

Module V Mind and Nature 20%


Nature of mind, effects of yoga, meditation and exercises on the mind.

Module VI Techniques and Indigenous Therapies 10%


Techniques and skills of meditation, yoga and related schools and their benefits in Physical diseases as asthma, diabetes,
etc.

Student Learning Outcomes:


- Recognize the need of various indigenous therapies like Yoga, Ayurveda etc. in dealing with mental disorders.
- Identify the techniques of indigenous therapies
- Develop an understanding of indigenous therapy in physical diseases
