CRISIS

1) Declares the prohibition of any attempts to utilize the asteroid 1372-IRA DEI to cause
any harm to other nation-states, including deflecting the asteroid towards the Earth
a) Further declares that any nation state that participates in any such activity shall be
subject to severe penalties including comprehensive sanctions on various fronts
and the suspension of the said nation state from any international space unions.
b) Also elaborates that if any such action on part of any nation state succeeds in
causing increased harm towards any other nation state, then said nation state is not
granted any further protection from counter military operations
2) Proposes the utilization and development of any means necessary except for any nuclear
methods to deflect the asteroid away from the Earth
a) Considers the utilization of kinetic impactors such as those developed by NASA’s
DART project to deflect the asteroid away from its former course
b) Promotes the rapid development of such new technology that may aid in the
deflection of the asteroid in question
c) No WMDs should be used for the deflection of the asteroid
3) Suggests the building up of an international fund for purposes of insurance in the case
that the asteroid cannot be deflected or destroyed
a) This can be used to evacuate those areas which are predicted to be affected by the
asteroid impact and compensate those affected
b) This can be used to rebuild all the infrastructure and property destroyed by the
asteroid impact
4) Declares the establishment of a TASK FORCE X (TFX) under UNOOSA which will
undertake the changing trajectory of the asteroid.
a) the task force will have a consortium of global scientists who will undertake the
development of a gravity tractor of mass 47 tonnes which will change the gravity
attraction of the asteroid,
b) the gravity tractor is to be funded by member states according to economic
disparities of the respective states,
5) Encourages all first grade space agencies to provide resources and technology for
assisting the deflection of the asteroid from Earth.
