INTRODUCTION

Heritage Space is an independent art organization for contemporary art and exchange, presenting cycles
of exhibitions, art projects and monthly live events. It also has the legal status of being a social enterprise.
Heritage Space has a legal status of social enterprise under the Vietnamese law.

Founded in 2014, it houses an office and library space, a programme of exhibitions and series of talks,
screenings, performances and workshops derived from each cycle's thematic framework. Developed
through the vision and foundation that support creativity, intellectual exchange and art appreciation,
Heritage Space aims to function as a HUB - a multidisciplinary portal of many research and development
fields, and to participate directly in the cultural construction of the creative industry in Vietnam.

Heritage Space’s most outstanding activity is the annual International Art Exchange program, titled Month
of Art Practice (MAP) and Vietnam Art Archive Initiative.

MAP was initiated from 2015 to 2019, the program has sustained through five seasons, with the
participation of almost fifty acclaimed international artists from Europe, America and Asia. Numerous
young local artists have benefited from working, learning and growing while taking part in MAP. Many art
& culture organizations in Vietnam have directly worked and collaborated with MAP, such as the Goethe
Institute, L’Espace, Korean Cultural Center, Japanese Foundation, Nhà Sàn Collective, Manzi, Hanoi
DocLAB, DomDom and so on.

Vietnam Art Archive Initiative (ViAA) is a non-profit and long-term initiative of Heritage Space with the
desire to create an archive of contemporary art practices in Vietnam since the 1990s. ViAA is operated as
an online infrastructural platform in the form of a website / blog connecting popular social networks, in
order to not only provide information, instructions and references in a systematic way, but also become
the foundation for Heritage Space's future major activities on cyberspace.

During its operation, Heritage Space have established a strong relationship with longstanding and
prominent companies, organizations, and research and development community (R&D) in Vietnam, such
as the Institute for Studies of Society, Economics and Environment (iSEE), Center for Studies and Applied
Sciences in Gender - Family - Women and Adolescents (CSAGA), Hagar International, UNESCO Vietnam,
HealthBridge, UN-Habitat Vietnam, Vietnam National Institute for Cultural and Arts Studies (VICAS) etc.
Our cooperation is also extended to international organizations such as Indochina Arts Partnership,
Worcester Art Museum (US), Singapore Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA), National Gallery Singapore,
Cambodia Living Arts, Mekong Cultural Hub (Taiwan), Korean Foundation (Korea), Pro Helvetia
(Switzerland), British Council (UK), Bremen University of the Arts (Germany) along with many small and
medium organizations in East and Southeast Asian regions.

Heritage Space is a member of Mekong Cultural Hubs - the network of cultural sectors in Mekong Delta
countries since 2018, and member of the Cultural Creative Hubs project (2018 - 2021) implemented by
British Council Vietnam and VICAS, co-sponsored by British Council and European Union.
