Instructions: 97 Norwood Rd

Wifi Password: GentleRhino60F – if you need to restart the router this is located in the annex to the
upstairs front bedroom. There is a wifi booster in the kitchen that should not need to be restarted
but please ensure you keep it plugged in an turned on. We don’t often have issues with WIFI.

Parking and access: To avoid getting stuck it is easiest to reverse down the drive. If you do drive
down front-ways then parking at the top of the stairs at the bottom of the main part of the drive is
safe for most cars. When leaving stay on the side of the drive closest to the retaining wall. The trick
is to use a low gear and smallest possible amount of power to avoid wheels spinning. If you end up
driving down in the carport and need to reverse out you can turn around by reversing back and
around to the left (into the space at the bottom of the main drive) then you can drive out forwards
making sure you stick to the retaining wall side of the drive. Don’t accelerate too hard or wheels
will just spin. Large/heavy vehicles should not come down the drive unless they are 4wd. Please
don’t park in the trailer park under the plum tree as this belongs to the Neighbor. Courier vans often
get stuck so we suggest that any delivery vehicles don’t drive down.

Dishwasher: Powder is in the cupboard next to the dishwasher under the rubbish bin in a blue
container. Push the power button and it will start automatically, the cycle is 90 minutes.

Fire Safety: There is a smoke and carbon dioxide alarm in the kitchen. If you burn the toast and it
starts going off you can press the button to stop it. If the alarm in the hallway does the same there
is a ladder in the shed next to the carport which you can use to access the alarm. They key to the
shed is on the nail on the wall in the hallway next to the front door. Please lock the shed and put the
key back. There is a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink and a fire blanket next to the bed in the
master bedroom. Please always check the hob is turned off before going to bed/leaving the house.
The light in the kitchen often hides the flames. Off is the vertical 12 o’clock position.

Hob and Oven: The two smaller left hand elements don’t seem to work, the other elements work
but you often need to keep them held down for a least 30 seconds when lighting before they will
stay on by themselves. The markings have worn off the oven so to fan-bake turn the top dial two
clicks anti-clockwise. Fan-grill is 4 clicks anti-clockwise.

Coffee Machine: Left button turns on right button extracts the coffee. Middle button is for steam.
You can refill the water by lifting off the lid at the back. Please use the black kettle with cold water
to refill avoid contaminants/allergens entering the tank.

Rubbish: Rubbish bags are in the top drawer next to the wall by the pantry. Rubbish goes in the
wheelie bin with the red lid in the car port. Rubbish day is Tuesday morning (or the next day after a
public holiday) so please put the bin out on the curb on Monday nights but only if it is >half full. You
need to use a green tag (found under the spare rubbish bags). Write the address on it and attach it
to the wheelie bin handle. Recycling goes in the wheelie bin with the Yellow lid fortnightly. The next
recycling dates are the mornings of the 28th of December and the 10th of January. The black IKEA bag
in the pantry is for “clean” soft plastic recycling (we recycle this at Devonport new world).

Compost: We have a small compost bin under the rubbish bins this can be emptied outside the
laundry (no meat, dairy or carbs) Please empty and rinse out before leaving if used. If you empty
the compost in the outside bin please layer some grass clippings from under the deck stairs to avoid
attracting flies.
BBQ: Please wheel out from under the glass pergola when using. There should be plenty of gas in
the bottle but if it runs out there is a spare bottle in the shed adjacent to the carport. After use the
BBQ can be cleaned with a small amount of water and a blue disposable close from the roll under
the kitchen sink. BBQ utensils are under the BBQ in a silver case and can be cleaned in the
dishwasher after use. Please ensure the gas tap is turned off after use. Please also avoid twisting the
bottle/hose which can cause gas to leak.

Laundry: WARNING the Landry requires a pump for wastewater so please ensure this is not
switched off/unplugged. Same for the switch on the wall in downstairs bathroom which operates
the sewage pump. If you have any issues with the pumps please call us.

Downstairs shower: As it is situated below the wastewater drain, the shower tray will fill up with
water until the waste pump automatically turns on. Once the pump starts keep the shower
pressure at a level that isn’t faster than the pump can remove the water to avoid flooding. The
upstairs shower does not use a pump if you prefer high pressure.

Washing Machine: Liquid goes in the left hand side of the drawer. Turn the dial to select wash type
and hold the start button down to start. There is more liquid persil and eco liquid under the sink.

Dryer: For small loads you can just press start and it will automatically turn off when dry. For larger
loads time dry (the rightmost setting) is best: 1 hour for a normal load or 70min for towels. 40-
50min is fine for medium loads. Please check lint filter is clear before each use and empty after use
and do not leave dryer on when not in the house.

Kayak and Paddle Board: Feel free to use the Kayak and Paddle board at high tide. Please don’t
drag either on the concrete ramp when launching. Either carry into the water or use the wooden
plank on the side of the ramp as a protector to slide the Kayak in. We recommend not to use the
kayak or paddle board in rough water. Life jackets are under the butchers block in the downstairs
rumpus room, however the water near the house is not very deep when the tide is in. After use
please rinse and dry the life jackets on the line and stow once dry.

Outdoor Furniture: Please keep the rain cover on table when not in use. It is attached using Velcro
straps on each leg. When not in use please keep the outdoor cushions away from the open side of
the glass pergola so they don’t get wet when it rains.

Wine Glasses: are either in the pantry or in the cupboard by the dining room table.

Pantry: Please help yourself to any food and drink in the fridge, freezer and pantry. The soda
machine uses the bottle in the fridge with a gold lid and base. There is also a spare bottle in the
pantry with a black lid and base. Fill with cold water to the mark on the bottle and attach by
inserting firmly and locking the bottle vertically in place. Pump 3 times or until all three lights
illuminate. Please return the bottle to the fridge for our next guest.

Drinking Water: The water dispenser on the fridge is not in use, however the cold water in the
kitchen is filtered There is usually ice in both the ice dispenser and top drawer of the freezer please
replace what you use for the next guests. Please ensure the freezer door is firmly closed after use (as
it doesn’t automatically closed).

Aircon/Heating: The controls are located in the hallway above the drawers with instructions on the
inside of the control panel. If you are using please ensure windows are doors are kept closed. The
downstairs heat pump has a remote control which is kept on the ledge opposite. There is also an oil
heater in the downstairs office which can be moved into a bedroom if needed.

Other: We occasionally get ant in the kitchen and avoid leaving food out on the bench overnight.
We also get mozzies in the summer, there is repellent in the main bathroom.
Refill’s for the automatic fly spray dispenser (located above the fridge) are under the kitchen sink
