FCCLA Membership Information Sheet

What is FCCLA?

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a nonprofit U.S.


Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for young men and women in family
and consumer science education (FACS) in public and private schools through grade 12.
It incorporates programs that focus on the family.

Mission Statement

To promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer
sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and
community leader, members develop skills for life through character development,
creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and
career preparation.

Meetings
When? The second Tuesday of each month in Room 707 at 3:50pm until approximately
4:30 pm. Officer meetings on the first Tuesday of each month.

Past FCCLA Projects: Bus driver goody bags, Samaritan Purse shoebox, Salvation Army
stockings, Nursing Home donations, Crisis Control Food Drive, baking cookies, crafts,
Fundraisers: Valentine’s carnations, cookie sales

Leadership Opportunities
 Active participation during meetings
 Become an EFHS FCCLA officer
 STAR Events Competition in the Spring (Fall Training)—Must join FCCLA to
participate

FCCLA Officer Responsibilities:

**Becoming an officer should be viewed as a yearly dedication and commitment. All


officers should commit to being present at all officer meetings and all FCCLA meetings.
If an officer has a conflicting appointment, he/she should communicate that to the advisor
or President at least one day in advance.

PRESIDENT
 Provide leadership to other officers and delegate responsibilities
 Keep in close communication with school adviser
 Attend and preside over all FCCLA officer and regular meetings at East Forsyth
High School
 Take attendance/roll call during meetings
 Help to plan and implement FCCLA projects and fundraisers
 Remain neutral while maintaining harmony during discussions
 Serve as a role model to other FCCLA members and the community
VICE-PRESIDENT
 Assume the duties of the president in his/her absence
 Help to plan and implement FCCLA projects and fundraisers
 Attend all FCCLA officer and regular meetings at East Forsyth High School
 Serve as a role model to other FCCLA members and the community
SECRETARY
 Keep a record of minutes for each officer and regular meeting. These are to be
kept in a designated area in the advisor’s classroom.
 Type a copy of the FCCLA roll to be available for the first meeting and be filed
monthly.
 Help to plan and implement FCCLA projects and fundraisers
 Attend all FCCLA officer and regular meetings at East Forsyth High School
 Serve as a role model to other FCCLA members and the community
HISTORIAN
 Take photographs at monthly meetings.
 Document and create an ongoing scrapbook of FCCLA meetings, projects and
fundraisers throughout the year
 Help to plan and implement FCCLA projects and fundraisers
 Attend all FCCLA officer and regular meetings at East Forsyth High School
 Serve as a role model to other FCCLA members and the community
REPORTER
 Contact Kernersville News, East Forsyth’s Newspaper (The Talon) Advisor, or
East Forsyth’s Yearbook Advisor to publicize noteworthy FCCLA projects and/or
accomplishments.
 Help to plan and implement FCCLA projects and fundraisers
 Attend all FCCLA officer and regular meetings at East Forsyth High School
 Serve as a role model to other FCCLA members and the community
