Do you believe that some patients tend to abuse their rights? Why or why not? Give an
example and explain.

Yes. In a hospital context, patient rights refer to the use of correct behavior between
patients and medical practitioners/staff as well as the institution that handles their
diseases. This is only one of several definitions of patient rights. No matter what
definition is employed, most patient rights have altered and developed, to the worse
circumstances, this is being misused. One cause for the misuse of these rights is a lack of
specificity. People frequently do not understand the nuances of their rights, which leads
to abuse. It is either not clearly defined or is contained in the bundle of papers that must
be signed before to admission. For example, one of the most fundamental rights is that all
patients in the emergency department be treated quickly, and that failing to do so may
result in a complaint or larger problems. The problem is that there are other more urgent
issues or concerns that must be addressed and dealt to first. What if there is a shortage of
manpower? The subject of patient rights abuse covers a wide range of topics, but
specifics and specifications in every hospital document and policy should be thoroughly
scrutinized.
