1.

I considered many factors regarding the decision-making process when

choosing this course. For instance, if my family encourages me to pursue

courses related to STEM, I might feel pressured because it is widespread that

people view stem-related courses as very challenging. Moreover, from a

societal point of view, I would still feel pressured and might be swayed in that

direction regardless of my interests due to the standards that society has built.

More importantly, the practicality and demand for this course in other

countries made me choose this course. When I was a first-year student, I felt

many regrets because I could not pursue my dream course; however, when I

got to know and have an in-depth study of my course, I learned this course

has a lot to offer, especially in other countries. Overall, all the

abovementioned factors have shaped my decision-making process,

influencing my priorities in life, values, and perception of success.

2. Financial aspects are crucial in deciding whether to pursue a STEM-related

course in college. The potential earnings in STEM fields can be a significant

incentive, as they often offer higher salaries. On the other hand, it could

substantially deter some individuals like me from pursuing my dream course.

Fortunately, many organizations offer scholarships like the DOST Scholarship,

Gokongwei Scholarship, CHED Scholarship, etc., that can alleviate some

financial burdens and make your dream course more accessible. But to avail

of this scholarship, you must get high grades, pass the exam, and do some

interviews. Further, you can apply to public schools in the Philippines without

paying for your tuition, but make sure to pass the entrance examination.
3. With regard to the experiences, I had before as a former STEM student, those

were such happy and memorable moments. Still, none of those experiences

have significantly impacted why I chose this course but my family’s financial

capacity. Financial problems have greatly impacted my life because I believe

if we got enough money for my studies, I would be living life now with my

dream course.

1. There were a lot of opportunities that I missed out on; however, as an

optimistic person, I always view things positively. Whenever I saw an

engineering student at my university, I would feel this envy, but that was

before. Right now, although my course is also challenging because I am an

education student majoring in Electronics technology, I always keep in mind

that everything happens for a reason; I know that God has put me in this

situation because it is in his plan.

2. Before being a STEM student, I was also an STE student, so I had an

electronics subject when I was in grade 10. My teacher at that time was Sir

Mondejar. We had a project at that time that incorporated our subject,

electronics, but before that, I could not forget what he was discussing with us

about soldering tools. It did not really capture my interest because it is not

what I am fond of. But little did I know, I would be majoring in Electronics in

my College era. So, I have some knowledge about soldering tools which I was

able to apply it to know. Before, all we did was discuss which is cognitive, but

right now, I have started practicing it, which is identified as psychomotor; I

sometimes burn my skin, but I know it is all part of the process. Overall, the
things I learned about these matters did not go to waste, even though my

course now is far from my strand. There are still things I learned from my

studies before that I can apply now.

3. If I rate it out of 10, it would be eight. When it comes to career satisfaction,

this course of mine leaves a meaningful impact on students’ lives by imparting

practical skills and knowledge, and you will witness students’ success in

various skills, for instance, electrical, automotive, computer system servicing,

etc. Furthermore, students could engage in hands-on teaching methods and

experiential learning when it comes to personal fulfillment. Also, it provides

opportunities for professional growth and advancement in technical-vocational

fields. Overall, as an education student, a course that is outside the STEM

field, as you witnessed, our journey is also a challenging one. Still, it is also

deeply meaningful and profoundly rewarding. With passion, perseverance,

and dedication, we are poised to make a lasting impact on the world, one

student at a time.
